The Dark Rose. A warming, sweet, and delicious winter drink or mocktail. It’s a romantic twist on the classic Moscow Mule made with tequila instead of vodka. Tequila mixed with a splash of raspberry liquor (Chambord), pomegranate juice, lemon, and ginger beer. Finish with rose petals for the rosiest winter cocktail. The mocktail variation is also included with the recipe.

Back with a special Valentine’s Day-inspired drink today! I found these pretty glasses and immediately knew I needed to share this recipe – in these glasses!

A simple tequila ginger cocktail (or mocktail) to celebrate a romantic winter night with people you love!

Whether it’s a boyfriend/girlfriend, your best group of gals, or family and friends, this is the perfect drink to share on Valentine’s Day!

I made the mocktail for my younger sister, Asher, and myself as a Valentine’s treat!

It was so fun to celebrate this fun season with her!

No matter who you share this drink with, it will be loved!

Here are the details

Step 1: fill a cocktail glass with ice

I used coupe glasses (sold out, but these coupe glasses are a cute alternative) for a fancy, romantic feel. But pick your favorite stemware to use! Or, use your favorite rocks glass.

Step 2: shake, shake, shake

In a cocktail shaker – or use a glass jar, shake the tequila, raspberry liqueur, pomegranate juice, and lemon juice. Shake to mix. Then add ice and shake until chilled.

Strain into your ice-filled glass.

Step 3: add ginger beer

Pour the ginger beer overtop. Now, add a small spoonful of pomegranate arils (seeds). If desired, you can add a couple of rose petals too.

It’s an extra finishing touch but a pretty romantic one!

Very yummy! I might actually leave out the ginger beer next time. We really enjoyed the brightness of it, which is funny given the name!

    1. Hi Cathy,
You bet, I like to use Casamigos blanco tequila. Please let me know if you have any other questions! Cheers! xT

    1. Hi Stephanie,
Yes, you will want to use raspberry liqueur. Please let me know if you have any other questions! Cheers! xT

Loved this! We didn’t have pomegranates, so we used raspberries. The raspberries soaked up the flavor in the drink and were incredible! We decreased the ginger beer to our preference. Our pomegranate juice was also less “red” than the one Teagan used, so our drink wasn’t bright red. It was incredible though! Topped with Burlap and Barrel rose, and we loved it! I would love to try this drink with tart cranberry juice as well!

    1. Hey Sarah,
Amazing!! Love to hear this cocktail was enjoyed, I appreciate you making it! Have the best weekend:) xx

  3. I agree with Margie…be kind people! Especially Nick, who criticized her for making sloppy mistakes and then made his own error! My point is we all make mistakes sometimes.
As a side note, if you were making a mocktail it wouldn’t matter what alcohol was listed because it would be omitted.

  4. I was so relieved when you shut off comments on the Sunday post. Now I’m thinking you’re going to have to do something about the rest of the week. So sad.

I’ve seen some blogs where your comment has to be approved before posting. I know that’s a lot of extra work, but it might be a good idea at least for awhile.

  5. Why would anyone in this economy think that $56 for 4 mini glasses is a ‘cute alternative’ to what you bought? Please please PLEASE think about your audience before you post ridiculous nonsense

  6. This recipe is made with tequila, and yet when you get to the mocktail option, you say to leave out the tequila…the sloppy mistakes on this blog are getting ridiculous now. Either hire an editor or someone else to just full on write your posts for you.

      1. That’s because she’s actually not making a Moscow mule which is made with vodka. She’s making a Mexican mule which is made with tequila. But yeah I noticed that mistake. Also pomegranate and ginger beer not sure about that flavour combination
