Hot Honey Pepperoni Pizza Rolls. Soft, cheesy, and a little spicy, these pizza rolls are stuffed with tomato sauce, three cheeses, extra pepperoni, and baked until golden with perfectly crisp tops. The real secret? A drizzle of homemade hot honey and a sprinkle of flaky sea salt. Trust me, these are even more delicious than you’re imagining. I always bake a double batch because they disappear fast!
Since I just shared that big list of game day recipes, it only feels right to follow it up with something that works for both dinner and game night. Enter simple, delicious pepperoni pizza rolls!

These are such a family favorite. I’ve been making versions of them since I was a kid back in Ohio, experimenting in the kitchen with an old Williams-Sonoma kids’ cookbook. That book had a recipe for pizza rolls (and an apple pie!) that really sparked my excitement for cooking. The original rolls were simple, made with store-bought dough and no hot honey. But adding hot honey changes everything. It makes them so much yummier, with just the right balance of spicy and sweet.
I usually make my own pizza dough and hot honey, but you can, of course, use store-bought. Do what you have time for! And if you’re serving these for dinner, I love pairing them with my Fall Harvest Salad — it makes such a fun, cozy meal.

Ingredients
For the Hot Honey

Divide the dough in half, then roll each piece into a large rectangle.

Place each rectangle on its own sheet of parchment paper. Spread with tomato sauce, then sprinkle over Italian seasoning, cheeses, and plenty of pepperoni. Drizzle with hot honey and add a few fresh basil leaves. Parmesan works great here too!

Roll each rectangle up into a log. Chill the logs for 20–30 minutes — this makes slicing so much easier. Slice each log into 8 rolls and arrange them in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.

Bake for about 20 minutes, until the cheese is melty and the tops are golden. The rolls don’t need to look perfect — they’ll still taste amazing!

In a small saucepan, gently warm honey with hot sauce, cayenne, and chipotle chili powder. Add a pinch of sea salt. The chili powder gives the sauce a subtle smokiness that balances the sweet heat perfectly.

So good! I used Sally’s Baking Addiction’s pizza dough recipe and made a well-rated pizza sauce I found online. I also used a hot honey recipe with red pepper flakes instead and fresh mozzarella and Parmesan instead. It turned out amazing!
Thanks so much, Haylee!
Very good! My husband loved this. After reading some reviews, and having made pizza rolls many times in the past. I planned to bake these longer. I baked for about 30-35 minutes. I checked at the 20 minute mark and they definitely weren’t done. However, after the extra bake time these were perfect. We keep bees and my husband requested I just make the hot honey to keep on hand!
Hey Corinne,
Amazing!! Thanks so much for trying these pizza rolls and sharing what worked well for you! So glad they were enjoyed!
Delicious! My final product looked nothing like the pictures (there was a lot more space between my rolls – I used a 9×13 but maybe next time I’ll do 2 9x9s. I also baked for an extra 10 min). It was still really delicious and something I will make again.
Hey Megan,
Happy Monday!! Thanks a lot for giving this recipe a try and sharing your feedback, I’m so glad it was a winner!
My kids were so happy! This was very good. Used homemade pizza dough and store bought honey. The honey really made it more than just pizza. Super easy to customize.
Thanks so much, Tonia! Love to hear this recipe was a hit with your family! Have a great weekend!
QUESTION: when you put them on the cookie sheet to bake…do you put them seam side down with crust facing up or are they sitting with cut side and filling facing up? Thanks!
Hi Andi,
They are placed with the cut side facing up. You can check out the photos above for reference:) I hope you love this recipe!
These ended up soggy and then so congealed for me – and yes, I know the definition of congealed. Any suggestions for improvement?
Hi Barbara,
Sorry to hear this. Was there anything you adjusted in the recipe? I would try freezing in step 2 a bit longer, that should help!
I put all 16 rolls in a square baking dish and it needed a lot more than 20 minutes to bake… Probably more like 30. Great flavor though and relatively easy! I would make this again.
Hi Jacob,
Thanks for the thoughtful feedback after trying this recipe, I’m happy to hear it was a win! Have the best weekend:)
Absolutely Fabulous!!! What a great, different way to serve pizza. Fun and easy to make. Served with a garden salad. We will make this on the repeat. I wouldn’t change a thing in this recipe. BTW, the fake reviewers should look up the definition of “congealed” and save their fake reviews for recipes that can actually congeal. Thank you, Tieghan for yet another recipe that elevates our dinners.
Hi Lisa,
Thanks so much! I love to hear this recipe turned out for you, thanks for making it! Happy Wednesday!
These were such a congealed mess & all just kind of stuck together. Disappointing!
Hi Rita,
So sorry to hear this. Was there anything you adjusted in the recipe? What kind of baking pan did you use? Did you pop your rolls in the freezer? Please let me know how I can help!
I followed your recipe exactly. Any suggestions?
Ahhh I’m so sorry! Next time, I would suggest freezing a bit longer, that will prevent them from spreading too much!
Taste was fine, but these were a congealed, greasy mess. Won’t make again. I also think the recipe should be edited. It’s easy enough to change if you know how to cook, but some people may not.
Hi Lora,
Sorry to hear this recipe was not enjoyed. Is there something specific that you suggest needs to be edited? Please let me know!
Amazing! I made them twice this weekend.
Yay! Love to hear this! Thanks so much for making this recipe and your feedback. Happy Sunday!
I made this recipe this evening. It was absolutely delicious. My husband whom is not a huge pizza fan thoroughly enjoyed it. I made the crust from scratch it was super easy and excellent.
Hey Devon, Big thanks for making this recipe and sharing back. So glad it hit the spot! Have a great Friday!
Do you think you could freeze these to eat at a later time?
Thanks so much, Callie! Totally, that would be a great idea, you could freeze before baking. I hope you love these pizza rolls!
Looks amazing, question…Do you create the roll from the 12″ side or the 10″ side.
thanks
Hey Linda! I start with the 12 inch side. Hope you love the pizza rolls! Have the best Friday and weekend!
Looks delicious. Should we use a total of 2/3 cup sauce though because you say spread 1/3 cup sauce on each rolled piece of dough? Also it looks like you used an 8×8 or 9×9 pan in the photos. Can we use two smaller pans vs a 9×13?
Hey Terri! Yes, that is correct. I fixed the recipe. I am so sorry that was not corrected sooner! And yes, you can use 2 smaller pans for baking. That will be great! Hope you love the pizza rolls! Have a great weekend!
