Thanks for joining me for another Nine Favorite Things post.

Nine Favorite Things | halfbakedharvest.com

Happiest September everyone! Weโ€™ve entered one of my favorite months of the year and I am so very excited about it. September is all about preparing for fall and slowly easing our way into the cozier months of the year. Iโ€™m looking forward to apple picking, baking, planning for Halloween, and watching the leaves begin to change (which normally happens during the first week or two of September around here).

In addition to all the fun to be had this month, we also have a lot going on here at HBH. We are finally finishing up the studio barnโ€ฆcanโ€™t wait to show you! Next week is clean up, and then weโ€™ll be shooting a really fun week-long project in the new space, followed by another, smaller, but equally fun shootโ€ฆmore details to follow. Iโ€™ll also be continuing work on an ongoing project, prepping for the holidays, and of course, continuing to bring you all new blog content. Oh, and possibly a trip back out to LA, but that could be moved to October, so we shall see.

Very busy, but amazing, and I am looking forward to all if itโ€ฆwell, most of it anyway!

The one thing you will not see a lot over the next few weeks is video content, and you have no idea how sad that makes me. Long story short, my brother Kai (who does all of HBHโ€™s video content) and I, filmed a whole bunch of videos a couple of weeks back to cover all of September, as we knew both Kai and I would be busy these next couple of weeks.

Last weekend Kai and Red headed off to New Zealand (via Melbourne) and Kai accidentally left his hard drive, full of all our videos, on the plane. He hadnโ€™t had time to back the videos up yet, so yeah, I think you see where this is going. We lost over fifteen brand new videos and three days of our time. I could not be sadder about it, but itโ€™s just one of those things that canโ€™t be fixed, and I have to move on.

And with that, I apologize in advance for the lack of video content this coming month. Kai is back in the US on the 17th, so weโ€™ll film then and get some new videos out ASAP. In the meantime, lots of new recipes and photos coming your wayโ€ฆ

Coming up this week on HBH, weโ€™ll be taking Monday off for the the holiday, but will return on Tuesday with the perfect healthy snack recipe. Weโ€™ll then be moving on to something in-season, but warm and cozy, and rounding things out with a 30 minute chicken dinner. Weโ€™ll finish up the week on a sweet note, with something apple filled and delicious.

1. Inspiring Me This Week.

Hillary Kerr and Katherine Power founders of Clique Media Group.

Itโ€™s possible that you may be unfamiliar with these two women, but my guess is that you are very familiar with one of their many successful brands. Hillary Kerr and Katherine Power are the founders of the brands Who What Wear, Byrdie, and MyDomaine, just to name a few. They have built a media empire from the ground up and have been trend setters in both the digital and fashion world for the last eleven years since starting out in 2006 with just a newsletter. Itโ€™s been incredibly inspiring learning about all these two have created and the brands that they have built.

I first learned of them through MyDomaineโ€™s new podcast Second Life,ย in which Hillary is the host. Last week, while in LA, I had the pleasure of meeting Hillary. Since then Iโ€™ve been listening to all the Second Life episodes I can while Iโ€™m in the kitchen testing recipes. I cannot tell you how much Iโ€™ve learned and just how impressed I am. If you need some career inspiration, I highly recommend listening to all episodes of the Second Life Podcast where Hillary interviews guests like Jessica Alba, Lauren Conrad, and Mandy Moore.

I also loved reading this interview with Katherine on how she runs a multimillion dollar company, the struggles they faced in building their brands, and why they have become so successful. So inspiring and so much fun learning from these two incredible women.

  1. Hi Teighan, love ALL of your recipes but one thing that sometimes disappoints me is that quite a lot of your sweet chocolatey recipes have peanut butter in them. Iโ€™m always sad when I see this because I am allergic to nuts but crave chocolate recipes! I would love to see some sweet chocolatey recipes that donโ€™t include peanut butter!! Also, any โ€˜Slimming Worldโ€™ recipes that you can invent would be awesome โ€“ no or low fat and sugar!! And, finally more quick pasta recipes!!! ๐Ÿ™‚ xx

    1. Hi Natalie! I will try that out! Have you tried sunflower butter? I have not, but I have heard it is a great replacement for peanut butter and tastes almost the same!

  2. Iโ€™d love to see a baked bread recipe! Itโ€™s something Iโ€™ve been wanting to do from scratch and would love to see how you would do it!

  3. We love, love, love the HBH Cookbook Salted Brioche Cinnamon Rolls but our daughter has Celiacโ€™s and cannot share in the pleasure. My Sweet Laurel Cookbook has Cinnamon Rolls but theyโ€™re just not the same (and frankly, a bit too sweet with that amazing filling!). Cinnamon Rolls are her most favorite and Iโ€™d so very much appreciate a workable adaptation of your recipe before sheโ€™s faced with another holiday looking through the window. Thanks ever so much!

Side note, my children are receiving copies of HBH for their very own this Christmas <3

  4. Always love your favorite things posts!

For recipe recipes, I would love to see tailgate apps/finger foods for game day and also fall-inspired lunches/meals that easily be prepped in advance to take to work.
