Hello everyone! I hope you’ve all had the loveliest week. I’ve been soaking up my time at home in Colorado this month, and it’s honestly been so good for me.
After our shoot last week, I jumped straight into tackling a long-overdue to-do list item, and I have to say—it feels amazing to finally be checking boxes off before the travel season begins.
I’ll be gone for the first third of February, so I’m fully in “let’s get it done” mode over here. I’m also headed to Sun Valley Food & Wine just before Italy, which I’m really excited about. Many of you have been asking—my events are sold out right now, but if you’re attending, please come say hi. I should be around, and I would love to see you.
Right now, I’m just enjoying the quiet, cozy days I still have at home before the chaos of travel kicks in. I’ve been spending long days in the kitchen, using every last bit of sunlight (it disappears so fast this time of year). Winter at home really does hit differently—in the very best way. It’s such a special season to create, and January brought a fresh wave of creativity, especially after last week’s photoshoot.
I am missing the snow, though—we’ve had none!
Overall, I’m embracing the new year with a fresh mindset. I’ve had a couple of “off” days (because that’s real life), but I’ve been focusing on shifting my energy in the best direction. There’s so much overwhelming content floating around this time of year, and I’ve mostly tuned it out. Instead, I’ve been choosing inspiration—only following people who truly lift me up. Very little scrolling. I’m the girl who avoids her phone at all costs.
The past couple of weeks have been full of little pockets of happiness, and those are the moments I’m really holding onto.
First—candles. I know I say this all the time, but candles (and flowers!) bring me such a deep sense of peace. We had the most beautiful florals left over from last week’s shoot, and I’ve been letting them slowly dry out. They’re not fresh anymore, but I actually love the moody, dried winter feel. It’s cozy and pretty in its own way.
And candles—I’ve been trying so many new ones lately. New scents, new brands, and I’ve found some really good favorites. I’ll share a few below.
I’ve also been loving podcasts. I’ll put one on while I do the dishes, and it turns cleanup into my own little moment of calm at the end of the day. I’m sharing a few I really loved this week, too.
Some other small things bringing me joy lately: evening walks with everyone’s holiday lights still shining, nonstop texting with my cousins, reconnecting with new and old friends, and morning workouts that leave me feeling strong and clear-headed. I’ve been doing strength training and then using the Melissa Wood Health platform, which I truly can’t recommend enough.
And this might sound silly, but I am obsessed with my sauna blanket. It’s my cozy little reset every night, and honestly, my safe, happy place.
What are you enjoying most right now?
Lately, I’m loving the simple, cozy stuff:
-
Winter mornings with coffee
-
An organized pantry and fridge + planning a few really good dinners
-
Big fluffy socks
-
Something simmering on the stove while it’s cold outside
Now tell me yours!!
What’s in your bucket of happiness today?

reading and relating to…Colleen Hoover’s ‘Woman Down’, which tells the story of an author facing major backlash, has me really intrigued. It’s such a fun way to carry that holiday spirit into January.

4. The J.Crew US Ski Snowboard Collection.

5. Winter Candles.
We all know how much I love candles. Lately, I’ve been ordering and trying so many new ones, and I may have gone a little crazy right after Christmas… but honestly, no regrets. Testing out new candles is one of my favorite things—they bring me such a sense of peace and happiness. It really is the little things. Here are a few favorites.
I ordered a lot of new candles straight from Anthropologie. They always have the best selection and rotate it year-round. The Poured New York Floral Cottage Proper Marble Candle and Fruity Negroni Nights Marble Candle are not only really cute, but both scents are lovely. Pick up the Floral Cottage Proper if you want a rosy scent for Valentine’s Day. And the Negroni Nights candle is perfect for cozy winter evenings, with notes of citrus fruit and liquor.
I want to try the Dirty Girl Martini scent next. The notes aren’t usually what I gravitate toward, but I’m really loving this brand.
I loved Auden Lueur holiday candles. So next on my list is their Arlow scent. The citrus fruit, vetiver, and amber sound so cozy for winter. Their autumne scent was really warm and comforting
If you want to splurge, the Sweet Almond medium scented candle from Loewe is a beautiful one and smells amazing!

So thrilled to see the new discounted price of your Sun Valley event, I should be able to budget it in with all the other events I’m attending! Can you give a sneak peak on how many courses are included in your full course menu? Or would I be better off emailing the events customer support team? Thanks in advance!
Hi Jolene,
Yes! I am planning to do appetizers and then a dinner with 4 courses.
Let me know if you have any other questions, I hope you are able to make it!
$700 seems outrageous for a recipe developer to charge for a meal. You keep saying “full course” meal to others…do you mean four course meal? If not, how many courses is your meal going to have?
Hi Ashley,
It’s going to be appetizers and a dinner with 4 courses. Please let me know if you have any other questions!
Do not waste your time reading woman down, it was literally one of the worst written books I have ever read!
Thanks for sharing, Carrie! I appreciate your insight! Have a great week!
Have you started acupuncture treatments for anxiety? Has it helped?
Hi Rhea,
Thanks for asking! I feel like I need to give it more than a week before I can report back and share my feedback:)
Have a great week!
I look forward to you newsletter every Sunday. Thank you! Love all the content. Your meals looks beautiful!
Enjoy the rest of your cozy time at home.
Thanks so much for your kind message, Riley! I appreciate you reading each week:) Have a great Monday!
I am so excited to finally have some events in my area with you! For the Sun Valley dinner, when will you be announcing the menu? It’s on the expensive, so I want to make sure it’s worth the indulgence!
Thanks so much, Jessica!! We will be finalizing the menu this week:) Thanks for asking and I hope you can make it!
Hi Teegan! I’m so excited to be going to the Sun Valley thing! I am definitely going to attend your cooking class! I can not WAIT to watch you make your delicious creations in person and meet you in person! I really am debating about going to the dinner, but I’m a little nervous to hit the BUY button without knowing the menu. I’m kind of picky when it comes to food, but I generally love the ingredients you cook with – cheese, cream cheese, red salsa verde, smoked paprika, chicken, rice etc. Can you give us any hints at all about the dinner menu? Also, where is it being held? It says Private Home I think? It’s not at your house is it? Anyway, I CAN’T WAIT TO MEET YOU IN PERSON!
Hey Shelley!!
We are finalizing the menu this week!!! I will say that’s it all HBH recipes so I think you will really enjoy it! I’m working to get the menu confirmed quickly though!
Hoping you decide to come. I’d love to meet you!!
Have a nice week!!!
Just looked at buying tix to the sun valley food and wine fest dinner you are hosting. The tickets are $700! Why so much?! The other dinners are $350 and they are hosted by culinary trained professional chefs. I would have thought your dinner would have cost less than theirs. I went to a 9 course dinner and a two star Michelin restaurant for $485. Wonder what are you making that possibly costs $700 a person?
Hey Jerri! We are hosting a full course dinner so it’s to cover the cost!
I didn’t have a say in the ticket price, however. I’m so sorry you feel like it is high. I totally understand.
I wish I could do something. Apologies.
Hope you have a wonderful week!
Hi Tieghan! When you say it’s a “full course dinner” what do you mean by that? The website for the event doesn’t have any info. This is in my neck of the woods so thinking about getting a friend to attend with me!
Hey Sara,
We will have appetizers and then a 4 course dinner. I hope you are able to make it!!
You said it was sold out, but it looks like there are still 7 tickets available for your dinner at the Sun Valley festival. Is that accurate or is it actually sold out?
Hey Heather! This is accurate. We were able to add more tickets for the dinner!!
Hope you can make it! Thank you!
Have a great week!
Photo shoot looks great! Wondering what it for!
Loving all the valentines heart things, they are so cheerful in the depths of winter.
Have a great week. Xx
Thanks so much for taking the time to read today:) I will definitely share more of the photo shoot soon!
I hope you have a great Sunday!
Making the creamy white chicken chili today! It’s a family favorite!
Thanks so much, Janet! Love to hear this recipe is enjoyed by your family! Have a great Sunday!
I live 5 minutes from Los Poblanos lavender farm in ABQ NM. I am now enjoying their lavender candle and bath salts that I got for my Birthday last week💜their restaurant is amazing too !
Hi Kate,
That’s amazing!! Thanks for sharing this:) Also, happy belated birthday, I hope it was a great one!
Curious what part of the Colleen Hoover storyline you feel like you might relate to!
Hey Sarah! The main character. She’s on social media it sounds like!
Have a great week!
How do you find all these links every week if you “never scroll”?
Hi Erin,
I try really hard not to doom scroll on my phone. I find most of the links while on my desktop. Thanks for asking!
Have a great Sunday!
What will you be making at your Sun Valley private dinner for $700/ticket? I see it isn’t sold out and I live nearby. I’ve never seen a price like that for a single dinner ticket, even at the most upscale restaurant in North America! You don’t really seem like you have much practice or interest in gourmet cooking, will anyone be assisting you at this event? Do you know why your dinner is double the cost of the other chefs?
Hey Eileen,
We are hosting a full course dinner so our ticket price is higher to help cover the cost. I didn’t have a say in the cost, I’m sorry it’s so high. I wish I could do something.
The menu is being finalized this week.
I am so excited for this dinner. I’ve put together a full HBH winter menu!
Have a great week and I do hope you can make it !!!
