Nine Favorite Things
I was just looking back at this time last year, and it’s so wild how much a year can change. One thing I’ve really come to love about sharing here day after day for the last 13-ish years is being able to look back and see exactly how things have shifted—sometimes in big ways, sometimes in small ones.
It’s like having this giant, living scrapbook. At first, I used to cringe a little reading “past Tieghan,” but now I love it. Growth, setbacks, changing direction—it really is two steps forward, one step back sometimes, but that’s life.
I’m not a journal keeper, but in a way, this space has become my journal—just one I share with all of you. Never thought I’d be that girl, but here we are! A little scary, yes, but I’ve learned that no matter what I do or say, some will love it, some won’t, and that’s OK.
This time last year was so different. I was in New York with Blake Lively (remember that?!). She’d asked me to create a curated menu for the cast party of her new movie at the time. None of us knew then what that movie would go on to become, but the experience itself was incredible. I still think, “Wow, I can’t believe I got to do that—how cool!”
This year, I’m home in Colorado. I’ve slowed the pace, let my foot heal (it’s doing well!), and tackled some much-needed admin days. It hasn’t been easy, and the rainy weather hasn’t helped, but those sunny days we live for are starting to show up. It’s amazing what a little sunshine can do—everything feels lighter.
I’m especially thankful my foot is healing quickly, because I have some travel coming up soon and I’m feeling confident I’ll be ready to go just in time. Wahoo!
Overall, it’s been a happy week—more sunshine, family all back in Colorado, and getting to give my littlest brother, Oslo, the biggest hug. I’m feeling excited for mid-August and heading into my favorite time of year!
How about you? Are you looking forward to what’s coming up? Even if you’ve had a rough week, I hope you can find that one good thing to hold onto. Be thankful for it and let it fill you up inside (so cheesy, I know—but it helps!).
Anyway, I’m sharing some favorite things below. Enjoy, and leave me a note in the comments with anything you’ve been loving this week!
excited about…fall travel! And fall in general. I found this cute farmhouse in upstate New York. You can rent the house to stay OR look! Terrain did their Halloween product shoot there last fall. I am obsessed. You guys, tell me, would you care for a Halloween-themed party menu? I would be pretty excited to put that together. Spooky fun!
wanting…this little glass dish. It’s crazy town with the price, but the playful design is too cute. I used to have a necklace like that growing up. This dish would be cute for the bathroom to hold all our rings.
everything in my cart (low)…Zara has some cute bags for fall, starting with the Clip Shopper Bag in leather. Personally, my favorite is this Double Handle Mini Suede Bag. I would wear this all the time. If you like more of a carry-all bag, try the Leather Maxi Bucket Bag.
Loving this simple and cute Classic Crew Tee from Reformation. Easy to style with jeans. I also love this Tie Back Knit Top. The detailing in the back is pretty! Also pretty is this Sylvie Tee from Free People.
listening to….
dreaming of going…. Word on the street is that George Clooney eats dinner here. Honestly, I couldn’t care less about that. What I do care about, however, is this stunning hotel. If I visit Lake Como, this spot is top of my hotel list. It’s also across from the town of Bellagio, which my parents really enjoyed.
ordered and love…a little Honey Jar from Zara Home. I’m telling you guys, if you’re not shopping for home goods at Zara, you’re missing out. The best-kept secret is Zara Home. I love my little bumblebee honey jar! If you’re in summer ice cream mode, check out the entire ice cream collection. Super cute!
reading…. She really is an icon, and these photos are great.
watching…the trailer for the New Colleen Hoover adaptation, Regretting You. This looks cute.
shopping…the Aritzia Agolde sale.
everything in my cart (beauty)…fall scents are top of mind this week! The Rare Beauty Rare Eau de Parfum with Vanilla and Caramel sounds wonderful with notes of Caramel, Vanilla, and Sandalwood. I think the Vanilla Verve Perfume from Cyklar sounds perfect – spicy and sweet, decadent and creamy. Delicious from head to toe with notes of cardamom, vanilla, amber, and tonka bean.
and then! Fall Cashmere with cinnamon bark, roasted almond, and spiced ginger. Sounds like a delicious cookie, don’t you think?
wearing…Alosoft High-Waist Iconic 90’s Capri. These are cute and comfy. Ordered a bunch of new Alo pieces for the new season, and these are a standout. I’m into Capri’s right now.
also…Outdoor Voices is back! The Orbit Bra is in my cart with the Doing Things 3″ Skort.
everything in my cart (high)…the UGG Elea Slip-on. These will be so cozy to wear around the house this fall. I might need to get my mom a pair too. Although she swears by her shearling Birkenstocks with arch support.
speaking of mom, she’d love these cashmere wide-leg pants and maybe these cashmere tapered track pants too, both from The Row. For later in the fall, she needs these cashmere, alpaca and silk-blend bouclé mittens. They have her name all over them, but she hates expensive stuff, so I’ll have to find knock-offs.
shopping…for a laptop case and looking at this Laptop Sleeve, which has good reviews all around.

I mentioned this last week, but our candles with Snif are coming back this season, along with two new product category launches. Can you guess the new products?
First, Apple Cider Smash is now back in stock. This scent sold out on day one last year. Aside from Pumpkin Smash, it’s probably my personal favorite we’ve ever created.
And speaking of Pumpkin Smash, it’s fully restocked and ready for you all to burn this season. This is the OG HBH x Snif scent. It’s the best pumpkin candle you’ll come across.
Next, the new products! You guys know how much I love body care and how I use my body creams daily. Well, Snif took note, and together we created our first body butter! The scent is PUMPKIN SMASH. Just in time for the fall season. I can’t believe I now have my own body butter on the market. It’s so creamy, sweet, and leaves the skin baby soft.
Lastly, a new Pumpkin Smash laundry detergent. I’ve said this before, but I’ve never found a clean laundry detergent that I really loved. So we created one! And it’s launching in the scent of the season, Pumpkin Smash.
You can shop here! All 4 products are now live.
Enjoy a few of my very favorite things!
My mom loves ChatGPT, but I need to learn more. Do you use it? What do you love about it?
Similarly, but not really, what about Substack? How many of you are using Substack? I don’t personally read any Substack pages, but I know so many creators have them, and I’ve had requests to start one myself. I share so much on the website, through our email newsletter, and then, here on Nine Favorite Things. Substack feels unnecessary. But yet, everyone seems to really enjoy the platform.
Let me know how you all feel. Do you read any Substack pages? What do you love/not love? I’m super curious!

Hi Tegan! You are doing a great job with your newsletter and Nine Favorite Things, I do not think an additional thing is needed like Substack. Love your Nine Favorite Things every week, keep up the fun news via that!
Hi Ann! Thank you so so much for this input! I really appreciate it! Thanks for keeping up with the nine faves posts! xT
Going to try the peach muffin recipe!
Hi Pam! Thank you so much! I hope you loveee the muffin recipe, let me know if you love it! xT
Oh Giddyup! I’m so excited to get my hands on the HBH x Snif Pumpkin and Apple Cider Smash candles again!! Also, body butter in Pumpkin Smash? ALL THE YES!
I do not read any Substack pages. I tried to get into it with two bloggers I follow, and it’s just not for me. I don’t find it helpful and would cast my vote, where your content is involved, for not “fixing what a’int broke”. 😉
I’m so excited for cooler weather and everything fall! I think a Halloween Party-themed menu would be really fun! If you go spooky, genuinely spooky vs. cute spooky would be super cool. I’d love to see an Autumnal Equinox menu too!
Have an awesome day and KEEP BEING AWESOME!
Hi Nancie! Love your excitement! I’m so happy you’re as excited for the snif products as I am! Totally hear you on Substack and appreciate your thoughts on keeping things as they are. I always appreciate the comments and input! Have a lovely week! xT
Hi Tieghan! Thanks for the update. Glad you’re feeling better and getting around okay. I love that you created a laundry detergent because you couldn’t find one you liked, but can you clarify what you mean by “clean”? Do you mean it cleans clothes? I have excema so I have to be careful what I use on my clothes and it seems there are a lot of chemicals in the Pumpkin Smash product. Should I be worried about any of these ingredients that are in your new laundry detergent? Water (Aqua), Sodium Laureth Sulfate, C12-16 Pareth-7, Fragrance (Parfum), Caprylyl /Myristyl Glucoside, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Lauryl Glucoside, Sodium Chloride, Sodium Citrate, Sodium Gluconate, Trisodium Ethylenediamine Disuccinate, Citric Acid, Coumarin, Cinnamal, Eugenol, Subtilisin, Limonene, Amyl Cinnamal, Cellulase, Amylase, Benzisothiazolinone, Methlisothiazolinone, Pectate Lyase, Mannanase.
Hey!! Thank you so much for your sweet comment!
Our detergents are formulated to strict retailer clean standards and are both Target Clean and Ulta Conscious Beauty clean for household essentials. Every ingredient has been reviewed and selected to comply with the retailer’s specific requirements! We also know that the term “fragrance” can be scary when seeing this on an ingredient listing, but we formulate all of our fragrance oils to also be Conscious Beauty clean and comply with IFRA’s (the International Fragrance Association) clean guidelines.
In addition, we took it one step further too and conducted 3rd party testing to ensure that our detergents were that safe! Our test results came back and passed with flying colors, and are certified non-irritating for skin and dermatologist-tested.
All this said, you have try everything out or talk to your doctors before deciding on whether a product works you. Everyone is so different!!! You know?
Hopefully this helps provide some more knowledge around the detergent!!
Let me know if you have any other questions! xT
I was so excited to see you made a clean detergent with Snif. I just looked at the ingredients and I am not sure what Snif’s definition of clean is but it is definitely not a clean non toxic product! It is Full of chemicals and “fragrance” is a big red flag. Really bummed about this!
Hey Kelli, I’m so sorry our detergents don’t meet your needs! Have a nice week!! xT
Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes to a Halloween spread!!!!
Thank you SO much Lisa! I’ll definitely be working on Halloween content, it’s so fun! xT
Awww my 4 year old daughter loves that Grover book too!! How special that you’re so in touch with your childhood. Have a great week!!
Hi Claire! Awww how sweet! I love that your daughter loves it! Have a great week! 🙂 xT
I was hoping your snif products were nontoxic…bummer. 🙁
Hey Brenda! I am sorry the detergent doesn’t meet your needs! 1,000% yes on a Halloween themed party menu! Especially since it’s a Friday this year!
Hi Jaclyn! Yes, I’m so excited for Halloween content! It’ll be so fun! xT
No, we don’t want a Halloween themed fake party. We only want authentic party planning with real friends and food you cook and drinks you make and a table you set. That’s the lifestyle we want. I desperately want you to go make real friends and throw a party with them. I know you won’t address this but so many many people feel this way.
What are “editorial stories?” I would love to see actual events you’re hosting at with real people at your home. You say you host friends & family a lot, but it feels like your photo shoots are always very elaborate, with an emphasis on your outfits instead of the food, and no guests. I’ve seen people suggesting similar ideas (of you actually hosting), but it seems to get ignored.
Hey Gabrielle! Thank you so much for providing feedback! If I do a Halloween party it will be fun! And with people of course!
Have a great week and thanks again!!! xT
I think rather than an “editorial story” for Halloween, most people would prefer seeing an actual party with real people from your life with all of you actually eating the food vs a posed, staged “event”. Something they could re-create and enjoy – a relaxed fun get-together rather than a make-believe dress up one.
Hey Kate! Thank you so much for this awesome feedback! Yea! Agreed and this is totally my plan. It will be a fun party!
Have a great week! xT
I just figured out how to save a recipe, and I”m so excited! I’ve previously printed out recipes, but this is so much easier – Thank You!! Can’t wait to try the braised pot roast.
Hi Sandra! Yay, I can’t wait for you to continue making lots of yummy recipes! xT
A cup of coffee and a read through Nine Favorite Things is my Sunday morning ritual! Thank you for this!! ❤️ I for one would love a Halloween themed dinner party post – the “spookier” the better! 👍😉
Hi Gina! Aw thank you so so much! That makes me so happy to hear that! Thanks for following along with nine faves! xT
Please do not start a Substack. Please keep all your content open for everyone. It seems people do Substack to make exclusive content that subscribers now have to pay for, and it becomes the “haves and the have nots”. Not everyone can pay even a little bit a month. I love what you’re doing.
Hey Debbie! I’m not planning on making anyone pay right now!
Good to know is this feedback however. Thank you! xT
