Nine Favorite Things | halfbakedharvest.com

April is here, and spring is springing! I spent the past week in New York, which included a very random 80ยฐ day (it was so nice)โ€ฆ followed immediately by a 30ยฐ one. Classic. Needless to say, Iโ€™ve officially started craving warm weather. Not the most realistic craving, though โ€” I came home to temps in the teens and a full day of snow. The forecast is looking up, but itโ€™s still cold here!

All is OK, though. Iโ€™ve got a couple quick trips back and forth to New York coming up, and then I think Iโ€™ll manage to sneak in a few days in Miami. Honestly, my plans are a little up in the air at the moment. What I do know is that I wonโ€™t be home for the first half of May โ€” I need to be out of the house while we move back into the studio, and then work finally starts on my house! All very excitingโ€ฆ and very nerve-racking.

I know I promised you all an update post on the studio barn renovations, but Iโ€™m a little behind. The build is almost finished, but furniture wonโ€™t arrive until fall! So while itโ€™s still a ways off from being fully done, itโ€™s really coming along โ€” and I canโ€™t wait to share more soon.

Thereโ€™s been so much happening behind the scenes! Iโ€™m excited to start rolling out some updates to the website, share a new community-focused project weโ€™ve been working on, and reveal a few bigger things weโ€™ve had in the works, too. If you follow along on Instagram, youโ€™ve probably seen a few sneak peeks already!

Before I get into all of that, I have to tell you about my week in New York! Iโ€™m starting to feel like a bit of a regular. I love that work has me going in and out so often โ€” I could never live in the city, but I always enjoy my trips!

The highlight of the week was, of course, our event with Benny! First off, huge thanks to Benny for being so generous with his time โ€” we had the best night. I was a little nervous beforehand, but honestly, I had no reason to be. Benny always makes everything fun!

The night kicked off about an hour before Benny arrived, with book signings and time to meet everyone. As always, you all never let me down โ€” so kind, so sweet, and truly, meeting you is so special. I love these nights with you. And Williams-Sonoma was packed! This had to be one of our biggest New York events yet. Such a fun, feel-good crowd.

Once Benny arrived, we headed to the test kitchen to make my pizza pretzels recipe from the book. But there was a mix-up with the recipe, and unfortunately, it wasnโ€™t what I had originally planned. I want to sincerely apologize to everyone who attended. I was disappointed too, but thankfully, Benny (and his amazing energy!) totally made up for the lack of cooking.

We had the best time chatting, answering questions, signing even more books, and taking tons of photos. All in all, it really turned into such a wonderful night, and everyone seemed to leave happy โ€” which means everything to me. I honestly wish we could do it all over again!

The remainder of the trip was busy, busy with back-to-back meetings. It felt very corporate, and I had to put on my โ€œbusinessโ€ hat, which I didnโ€™t mind. While I love the creative side of this business, Iโ€™m really enjoying leaning more into my business role as well!

I had some yummy dinners, a smell session for the next candle, and even got to see my uncle Al, who was in town for work. Couldnโ€™t have asked for a better trip!

Weโ€™re all home this week, but my parents are heading out for a month+ of travel to escape the Colorado springtime weather. Lots of adventures to come!

How about you all? Are you traveling this month, or staying put? Whatโ€™s something thatโ€™s making you the happiest right now?

I hope youโ€™re all having the best start to April! Spring is finally here, and Iโ€™m so happy about it! Enjoy another fun favorite post โ€” I have lots to share below.

1. Things iโ€™m loving, wanting, and excited to try.

bakingโ€ฆBlueberry Muffin Bread on repeat. My favorite โ€“ Iโ€™m loving this bread!

Also, What Actually Happens When You Eat Enough Protein. Protein is the name of the game these days. Iโ€™ve been using a lot of Greek yogurt in place of cream and cottage cheese. Iโ€™ve also been cooking with venison, beef, liver, and even some lamb too. I think for Easter, Iโ€™m going to cook lamb ribs!ย

wantingโ€ฆfresh flowers! Craving spring color with this cold, snowy weather! Going to order some fresh roses from my favorite place, Grace Rose Farm. Also, considering house plants from The Sill.

everything in my cart (low)โ€ฆZara finds for spring break. Iโ€™ve seen this modal top everywhere, itโ€™s the perfect basic. I would pair it with these straight leg jeans and kitten heel sandals. Such a cute easy vacation look.ย

If you get chilled like I do, pack this short trench coat for nighttime.

This is the perfect beach suede shopper and a cute night out woven elongated bag.ย

maybe I need these?โ€ฆโ€˜Sonjaโ€™ Oiled Leather Clog from Dansko. Iโ€™m looking for a more supportive shoe to wear while cooking. All the nurses say these are the best!

dreaming of goingโ€ฆThe Landing. What a pretty vineyard in New Zealand around the crown of the Bay of Islands. The property has villas all around for guests to stay in. Itโ€™s also mentioned here, The Best Wine Tasting Destinations in New Zealand.

watchingโ€ฆHereโ€™s Everything Coming to Netflix in April 2025. What are you guys watching? I feel like I only ever watch old shows. Whatโ€™s good these days? My cousin mentioned sheโ€™s loving Good American Family and Paradise, both on Hulu. They look a little creepy. Anyone else enjoying either of these?

burningโ€ฆI need/want new spring candles. I just added this Hotel Lobby Capri Boxed Candle to my list. Iโ€™m very into citrus this spring. Iโ€™ve also been loving candles from Santa Maria Novella. Iโ€™m currently burning the Acqua Della Regina Scented Candle, and have theย Melograno Scented Candle up next.ย

eatingโ€ฆ100% Grass-Fed Beef & Organ Meat Sticks. Again with the protein.ย

We all know I love a body creme, so Iโ€™ll report back soon! Also adding the Major Glow Nourishing Bronzing Body Oil,ย Major Glow Balm, andย Body Brush. If youโ€™re heading to the tropics soon, these will be perfect. I guarantee Asher will get her hands on them too!ย

Reading about how Exosomes Are Taking Over Skincare. Adding theย Dr. Barbara Sturm Exoso-Metic Face Serum to my list of products to try. Added to my cart!ย

Device-wise, Iโ€™m a loyal believer in the red light mask. Iโ€™ve used the Dr. Dennis Gross mask for years. Itโ€™s the best of the best. But of course, Iโ€™m super curious to test Sharkโ€™s Cryoglow LED face mask after reading this review. Sounds like it could be perfect, especially for anyone looking to fight off acne.ย

  1. I am disappointed at the lack of accountability for your event. If you were planning on making pretzels all along, but didnโ€™t have a few extra herbs that youโ€™ve added to your new recipe, then your plan was still to make the pretzels initially. If not, what was the recipe that you were planning on making?

    1. Hey Jennifer! Hope you are having a great week! The recipe I shared in the cookbook is a little more than just pretzels and I was excited to share that with everyone! It didnโ€™t work out, but regardless we had an amazing event and everyone really enjoyed themselves! It was a blast!

      Have a wonderful day!

  2. Would you ever consider hosting an event where you cooked a recipe from your book, as opposed to a cheese board? Would love to see you in action & all your tips & tricks! ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Hi Morgan,
Totally, if the opportunity presented itself, I would love to do that! Thanks for asking:)

  3. You mentioned youโ€™ve been cooking with venison, liver, and even some lamb too. Where can I find these delicious recipes on your site?

  4. It sounds like you had such a fun NYC trip! Curious what recipe you ended up making at your event if it wasnโ€™t your own? Can you explain more?

    1. Thanks for reading Liz!! I ended up making pepperoni pretzels, which is my recipe, just not the original plan:) Have a great week!

  5. I adored the clip you shared of Benny speaking of his love of trying new food when traveling! Heโ€™s so passionate about the subject! NYC has every type of cuisine, yet I noticed you seem to stick to burgers & Italian food. Why is that? Youโ€™re missing out on so much inspiration. I would kill to be in a city with so many options!

    1. Hey Sam!! Yes benny is the best. Such a special friend!

I have tried many restaurants all over the city!! I just donโ€™t share it all! Bond street for sushi is delish! I do need to try a few Indian spots! So much to explore! I do love Italian however!

      Have a great week!

      1. I know youโ€™re pivoting to more fashion content, but I follow you for food content. I would love it if you would share more of the food and restaurants youโ€™re enjoying while traveling. Not many people are as fortunate as you to have the opportunity to travel to exciting cities with diverse, high quality culinary scenes.

        1. Sheโ€™s not โ€œfortunateโ€. Sheโ€™s self made and she can share what she likes, I love seeing the outfits.

  6. Your blog is a breath of fresh air in the often mundane world of online content. Your unique perspective and engaging writing style never fail to leave a lasting impression. Thank you for sharing your insights with us.

  7. Hi Hbh, thank you for all of the links. A trip to Africa sounds exciting! Iโ€™m always so surprised by what you include in these newsletters. Iโ€™ve noticed that Tieghan has been modeling her clothing more recently. Curious if you will change the name of half baked harvest to be more about clothes. Maybe fashion school is in her future???

    1. Hey Pat,
Thanks for reading today! Right?! Doesnโ€™t Africa look amazing? I definitely love sharing fashion with you all, but no plans to change the Half Baked Harvest name, just incorporating more content:) Hope you had a great Sunday! xx

  8. Hi Tieghan! Iโ€™m so excited for you to share about the renovations. Itโ€™s been years of reno teasing, so this will be a long time coming! I hope your new space is very bright to help with the photography. I sometimes find it hard to see what youโ€™re doing in your videos and photos. All my best to you.

Psโ€” I know you are getting a lot of criticism for the pretzels with pepperoni, but I made them for my son home from college and he didnโ€™t complain! Always trying to learn new healthy recipes. Protein!!

    1. Hi Jenna,
Thanks a lot for reading today and your message! Yes, I canโ€™t wait to share more on the renovations:) So glad your son enjoyed the pretzels, thanks for giving them a try! Have the best week!

  9. Great content- really enjoyed todayโ€™s newsletter! Tieghan, I love your jeans in the New York photos- do you have a link or can you share the brand?

  10. Another enjoyable Sunday newsletterโ€ฆ.loved it. Thank you. Have a great week. Your food photos are fantastic. All the best to you, Tieghan!

    1. Thanks so much for your kind message, Ellen! Love to hear you enjoyed the post and photos:) Have a great week ahead! xx

  11. Why donโ€™t you identify all of your (mostly New York) restaurant choices instead of merely photos? You would think as a food blogger you would tell us what dishes we are looking at? And not just say, โ€œEverything was yummyโ€.

    1. Hi Lee,
Thanks for your question. It just depends on the post, a lot of times I do label the food, other times I donโ€™t:) Today, I linked all of the restaurants for you. I also like to share a lot over on IG. Have a great week!

      1. I paid for a VIP ticket and was really disappointed there was no cooking at the event. I am vegetarian and couldnโ€™t eat the pizza pretzels. Seems unfair to blame others that the food plans didnโ€™t work out. I hope your team learns from this.

        1. Hey Hayley! Iโ€™m so sorry you were disappointed and apologize the recipe didnโ€™t go like I had planned, mistakes do happen! I would love to send you signed copies of the cookbooks! Can you share your address via email? Again Iโ€™m so sorry this wasnโ€™t what you hoped!

    1. Hi Nancy,
Thanks for reading today! Yes, totally agree with you:) Hope you are having a nice Sunday! xx
