Nine Favorite Things

Nine Favorite Things:

Kicking this off with something random. I just can’t stop using the word “divine” in the context of yummy food. I must have heard someone say “divine”. Something about this word has just stuck with me! I talk about delicious food a lot, so I do try to switch up my words. But if you think about it, there aren’t a lot of words to describe delicious food. Divine is my newest addition!

Do you think it fits? I kind of love it. But in a week, I may hate it. I change my mind A LOT. And yes, I’m aware I spelled it wrong on Friday’s post (fixed!). My dad and I are quite challenged in the spelling and pronunciation departments!

Moving on, I hope you’ve all had a wonderful week since we last caught up! Nothing too exciting to share. I spent my week cooking, photographing, and filming, had many meetings mixed in, and shivered my way through the week. We’ve had some cold end-of-winter weather, and it’s currently dumping snow! Spring has not yet sprung here!

But it’s ok! We’ve all got stuff we’re getting excited about. My mom has been planning lots of spring travel. They’ll be heading to the tropics to visit my grandpa when I head to LA. I hope to meet up with them mid-trip, maybe just before Easter! Very much looking forward to some tropical weather. I got a taste of warmth a few weeks ago in Miami. Ever since, I’ve been dreaming of more time in Florida. It will be great to spend a little time with my family too. Mom, Dad, Asher, Oslo, and you know Creighton will be joining too!

I head to New York on Thursday. Then, after a week back in the kitchen, I’ll be off to LA for a design meeting with the Amber Interiors team. The studio barn should be finished in May, so exciting!

And you all, it’s been so fun to see everyone’s excitement over our upcoming event with my good friend Benny! I know many of you are bummed because you’re not in New York! I wish there were a way to see more of you. But Benny’s a very busy guy, and luckily, the timing just worked out we’d both be in New York, so we’re finally making this happen! Maybe more to come, but as of right now, this is the last in-person event for a while. I’m just so excited for it!

We’ll be hosting a few great giveaways at the event! I think we’ll do one on Instagram as well and, of course, one for our email subscribers too!

Sharing more of the details below for anyone who missed last week’s post.

How about you all? Are you traveling this month? Staying put? What’s something that’s making you happy right now?

I hope you all are having the best start to spring! Enjoy another fun favorite post, I have lots to share below!

1. Things i’m loving, wanting, and excited to try.

ordered…these Lovely Pattern Journals that come in a set of 3. I get them on Anthro and they switch up the designs seasonally, I think they’re so cute, and they work perfectly as my recipe notebooks. I usualy get through all three over the course of a few months, but I love them! Also, picked up these cute matchsticks for spring to light my candles. I’m such a sucker for good packaging.

burning…the matchsticks reminded me, I’ve burned through all the Flamingo Estate candles and they’re really great! My favorites are still the Limited Edition Coriandoli Candle and the Euphoria Candle.

reminds me of… my Nonnie! The funny thing about Nonnie was that she randomly collected frogs. Not real frogs, of course, but figurines. She would have them outside her house as a part of the landscape. They were also subtly popping up around the house within her decor. And she used to love to gift a frog stuffed animal! These gold-tone, pearl, and enamel earrings and this gold-tone, enamel, and crystal brooch remind me of her so much. She would LOVE these. They’re such a splurge, which makes me laugh, but regardless, she’d be in love with both pieces.

everything in my cart (low)…spring time dresses under $300. If you need a good white dress, try this white mini dress. And here’s a pretty yellow mini dress too. And how fun is this mini linen dress? All great spring buys!

listened to… the intro to Selena Gomez, benny blanco – I Said I Love You First.

shopping…these coloring egg paper placemats. These are adorable! I would use them for a kids tablescape, but to be honest, I want one of my own!

dreaming of going to… The Rosewood San Miguel de Allende.

loving…Lola blankets! I can’t stop talking about these. No other blanket can compare to a Lola blanket. The Lola blankets are seriously THE softest, but yet light and so warm at the same time. Even after a few washes, they don’t loose their plush softness. I don’t know how they do it, but they’re just the best blankets! I have the original Lola blanket, but I’m ordering the weighted blanket next.

shopping…the Act + Acre Showerhead Filter after reading about how hard our unfiltered water is on our hair! Does anyone here filter their shower water?

wanting…every last fresh flower bouquet on the Terrain website. These Tulip Magnolia Branches are possibly my favorite. So pretty!

everything in my cart (beauty)…the DermInfusions Fill + Repair Eye Cream from Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare.

(reoccurring) empties…the Mutha body butter is without a doubt one of my most often emptied products – love it! The Josie Maran body butter is amazing too. Lastly, I just tried the body butter from Primarily Pure that uses beef tallow in the formula and loved it!

currently loving…the entire 3 step Dr. Diamond’s Metacine InstaFacial Collection. This is a pricey product, so I’ll keep you updated on it the longer I use it!

sidenote…the packaging is so good! The attention to detail!

reading…The ‘With Love, Meghan’ Reactions Prove What We Already Know: Meme Culture Has Become Too Powerful. This couldn’t be more true. Found this piece interesting, and I can relate.

kitchen finds…love these Mattia Hand Painted Bowls.

watching…Freakier Friday, the teaser trailer is so fun, I’m excited!

everything in my cart (high)…everyone talks about these Jenni Kayne sweaters, time to order the Cashmere Fisherman Hoodie.

loving…for springtime nails, I love Periwinkle Nails. Cute! Also, nine more spring nail trends.

reading…The Most Anticipated Books of Spring 2025.

shopping…this Neck & Shoulder Heating Pad. My mom loves this one; it’s so soft.

6. Lifey Things + Inspiring Me.

(making me smile – photo pin)

As I continue to grow as a woman, both personally and professionally, I realize that life really does throw you some challenges, good and bad. In the end, I always learn something and hope that the next day, I’m at least 1% smarter. In reality, occasionally, it’s 1% in the other direction. Regardless, what they say is actually true: with age comes knowledge!

As we (HBH) grow as a website and continue to build the brand, I’m faced with the fact that things do have to, and should, change. Change is HARD for me. I don’t like it, and I tend to procrastinate any kind of change in all aspects of life.

One of those changes is the content we share. For the last 13+ years, we’ve put out at least five brand-new recipes a week, sometimes 6. There are over 4000 recipes on the site. That’s a lot of content—too much, as many love to tell me. I will argue that to the grave—never too much!

But we’ve done some research that shows that posting a new recipe every day isn’t the best approach. It’s too difficult to consume that much content because it doesn’t give followers enough time to see everything. This means it’s time to ease up and also share new content—more lifestyle, behind-the-scenes, travel, and more. And while it is exciting, it’s scary.

As some of you took notice, we didn’t share a new recipe on Wednesday. This was a HUGE change for us and something I’m slowly going to start doing more of. For now, maybe once or twice a month, we’ll share just four new recipes in a week. I know to many of you, this is no big deal, but it’s a big change for me.

There are just A LOT of recipes at this point, and I think our time would be better spent going through the site, organizing recipes, and tidying things up a bit!

I know it’s not a huge change, but even little, itty-bitty changes freak me out. It’s a work in progress!

  1. Hi Tieghan, thanks for always sharing such amazing recipes. I hope that you’re able to make the changes that are right for you, even if it’s scary at first. Do you mind sharing where the top picture was taken? The building with the gorgeous bougainvillea? I didn’t see it mentioned in your post.
    Thank you!

    1. Hey Emily,
Thank you for reading and your kind message:) Of course, the photo was taken at my friend Benny’s house in LA. So pretty, right?! Hope you are off to a great Monday! xT

  2. On shower filters: yes, I have one. The Jolie brand though (because A&A hadn’t released theirs yet). I also have a water softener that conditions our VERY hard water which is a helpful first step. Third, I use A&A’s clarifying shampoo. I got to trial it and I really did notice a difference. …you always hear people say our skin is our biggest organ and I’m super aware of the water I use to shower/bathe and drink. …one note, like an air filter you have to change the inside out every few months. I love the authorship feature so I don’t forgot and always have nice water.

PS I like the idea of less recipes. I’m sure it’s hard to cook and create so much content. I’m excited for more BTS, travel, etc. change is scary but you never know what it’ll lead to 🙂

    1. Hey Deb,
Thanks for reading and sharing your feedback on the shower filters, so good to know especially about changing the inside out! I’m glad you are excited for a variety of content and okay with less recipes:) Have the best week! xx

  3. A great read! I know change can be scary, but continually striving for improvement is what truly matters! 🙂

    1. Hey Adelaide,
You are so right, thanks for the reminder:) I appreciate you reading today! Have a wonderful week! XxT

  4. I’m curious; where do you find all the links that you post above? I know you said you don’t scroll, so I was just curious! Would love some tips on this!! Thank you!!

    1. Hey Chugar,
I really just look on my computer, I’m not big into scrolling on my phone! Hope this helps! xx

  5. Tieghan, brave article…appreciate you sharing. The little guy we adopted 6 years ago also hates change (and spelling). He is wildly imaginative and creative and loves experimenting in the kitchen and everywhere else, so who knows…maybe he’ll grow up to be a famous food blogger and author like you!

    1. Aww, thanks Pauline. I appreciate you reading today and I’m glad you enjoyed the post:) I’m sure he will do amazing things!! Have a great Sunday! XxT

  6. Hey Tieghan,

I had everything I wanted to say and write to you and of course, with my luck, the page crashed. lol, I’ll try to remember all my thoughts a second time. I love the event you are doing in New York the book signing Q&A and the cooking demonstration. The only thing that would have made it better is if it were here in Arizona so I could attend. They say dreaming is free so I’ll keep hoping you come here to do an event one day. It would be a dream come true as you’re my inspiration and I’d love to meet you. Please think about it the next time you decide to hit the road again and do events. You’re so close to us and I am sure I’m not the only one here that would love to see you. That’s great you’re thinking of ways to keep things fresh and add more content and behind-the-scenes footage. I love it!!! Honestly, I didn’t even notice you didn’t post on Wednesday. I love seafood and I know you post a lot of Salmon which is delicious. Lately, I love Sea Bass and Halibut do you have anything for those you could share? When I cook I try my hardest to think outside the box. It’s not that I don’t love chicken and other things I do. Speaking of recipes I was given a bunch of citrus specifically fresh lemons. I haven’t baked in a while. I enjoy making desserts and sharing. My thought was Lemon Cheesecake what is yours?? I can’t recall have I ever told you I was a personal chef?? One of the things I do a lot to showcase my business is to share what I cook and bake with others. I’ve always thought sharing my creations was a great way to have others book my services. Do you like that idea?? What was one great piece of advice you could give me to attract clients and be successful? I can’t think of a better person to ask than someone who has inspired me like you have. Thank you in advance and I hope you have a great week ahead!

    1. Hi Mike,
Thanks for reading today! I will try to make a trip to Arizona in the future, thanks for sharing this idea:) Thanks for suggesting to try some recipes with halibut and sea bass, I will have to keep an eye out for those at the grocery store! Here are some fun citrus recipes you might enjoy:

That’s so great you used to be a personal chef, what a fun experience! Have a great week! xxT

  7. Tegan you are such an inspiration. I am also HORRIBLE at spelling and writing, its like I can barely speak English and I actually think I might have an “intellectual disability”. Thank you for being so brave and making me feel seen. You rock Tegan! 🙂

    1. Thank you so much for your kind message, Rona:) Glad I’m not the only one! Hope you are having a great Sunday! xx

  8. Hi Tieghan, thanks for another great Sunday post! I’m excited for more travel/fashion/lifestyle content! I’m a longtime follower and have sooooo many HBH fave recipes already, fewer new ones seems like a fair trade for diversified content. As you’re sorting old recipes, would you consider adding some kind of search or index by ingredients? I know some of that searching is already available, but it would be awesome to be able to filter by supporting ingredients, especially produce. I’m trying to reduce my food waste by planning multiple recipes in a week around an ingredient. Ex: I find radishes really hard to use a whole bunch before they go bad!

Also, I bought a hard water filtering shower head a few weeks ago and have noticed an immediate difference in itching and skin irritation. I have super hard water and chronic hives, and it’s made a huge difference!

    1. Hi Erica,
Happy Sunday! Thanks for following along for so long, I truly appreciate it:) I am so glad you are excited for the variety content and I’m thankful for you making so many recipes. Yes, I love this idea for searching for ingredients, you can actually do this already! If you go to the “latest recipes” page and then search by ingredient on the left side of the page, the site will pull up recipes that include that specific ingredient:
      https://fett-weg.today/recipes/%3C/a%3E%3Cbr /> I hope this helps!

Also, great to know about the water filter, thank you for sharing! Have the best week! xxT

  9. I so look forward to my weekly Nine Favorite Things email! I enjoy taking it in with my coffee on a lazy Sunday morning before hitting the ground for the day. I appreciate all of the news and updates. I literally cannot wait for the barn reveal!!!!! Keep up the great work and do what works best for you!

    1. Hi Stephanie,
Thank you so much!! I appreciate you reading each week and your message:) Oh my gosh, I am SO excited to share the studio when it is finished, cannot wait! Have a wonderful week! xxT

  10. I so look forward to Nine Favorite Things every Sunday, thank you, I enjoy the mix of content, food, fashion, beauty, it’s so much fun. You don’t have to limit yourself to just one thing.

    1. Hi Yolanda,
Thanks so much for your kind message and reading each Sunday! I am so glad you enjoy the variety of content:) Have the best Sunday! xxT

  11. Hi Tieghan!
I think fewer recipes each week is a good idea; not because I don’t love to get a new one each day, but it must take an incredible amount of time and creative energy to come up with a new one each day. If I knew there would be a new recipe only on certain days, I know I’d definitely look forward to those days. I understand the aversion to change though, I’m totally a creature of habit too. I think once you try it consistently, you’ll enjoy having a bit of extra time to work on other projects that are important to you.

    1. Hey Teresa,
Thank you so much for reading today and sharing your feedback! I’m glad I’m not the only one who is a total creature of habit:) I think it will be a nice change, so I’m glad you agree! Happy Sunday! XxT

  12. Cutting back to 4 recipes a week is a great idea. You could cut back even further and people wouldn’t mind. Many of your recipes are simply slight variations of your old recipes. Hopefully, this will give you an opportunity to get more creative and come up with original, well-tested recipes without mistakes. You could also take time to learn about other cuisines and cooking methods. So exciting!

  13. I used to have such a hard time with change, too! I went to therapy and it has helped me to handle change soooo much better without every little thing freaking me out. I realize now how unhealthy my mindset was. Sending love & encouragement to embrace change! This is how we grow! ❤️
