Nine Favorite Things

Nine Favorite Things:

Kicking this off with something random. I just can’t stop using the word “divine” in the context of yummy food. I must have heard someone say “divine”. Something about this word has just stuck with me! I talk about delicious food a lot, so I do try to switch up my words. But if you think about it, there aren’t a lot of words to describe delicious food. Divine is my newest addition!

Do you think it fits? I kind of love it. But in a week, I may hate it. I change my mind A LOT. And yes, I’m aware I spelled it wrong on Friday’s post (fixed!). My dad and I are quite challenged in the spelling and pronunciation departments!

Moving on, I hope you’ve all had a wonderful week since we last caught up! Nothing too exciting to share. I spent my week cooking, photographing, and filming, had many meetings mixed in, and shivered my way through the week. We’ve had some cold end-of-winter weather, and it’s currently dumping snow! Spring has not yet sprung here!

But it’s ok! We’ve all got stuff we’re getting excited about. My mom has been planning lots of spring travel. They’ll be heading to the tropics to visit my grandpa when I head to LA. I hope to meet up with them mid-trip, maybe just before Easter! Very much looking forward to some tropical weather. I got a taste of warmth a few weeks ago in Miami. Ever since, I’ve been dreaming of more time in Florida. It will be great to spend a little time with my family too. Mom, Dad, Asher, Oslo, and you know Creighton will be joining too!

I head to New York on Thursday. Then, after a week back in the kitchen, I’ll be off to LA for a design meeting with the Amber Interiors team. The studio barn should be finished in May, so exciting!

And you all, it’s been so fun to see everyone’s excitement over our upcoming event with my good friend Benny! I know many of you are bummed because you’re not in New York! I wish there were a way to see more of you. But Benny’s a very busy guy, and luckily, the timing just worked out we’d both be in New York, so we’re finally making this happen! Maybe more to come, but as of right now, this is the last in-person event for a while. I’m just so excited for it!

We’ll be hosting a few great giveaways at the event! I think we’ll do one on Instagram as well and, of course, one for our email subscribers too!

Sharing more of the details below for anyone who missed last week’s post.

How about you all? Are you traveling this month? Staying put? What’s something that’s making you happy right now?

I hope you all are having the best start to spring! Enjoy another fun favorite post, I have lots to share below!

1. Things i’m loving, wanting, and excited to try.

ordered…these Lovely Pattern Journals that come in a set of 3. I get them on Anthro and they switch up the designs seasonally, I think they’re so cute, and they work perfectly as my recipe notebooks. I usualy get through all three over the course of a few months, but I love them! Also, picked up these cute matchsticks for spring to light my candles. I’m such a sucker for good packaging.

burning…the matchsticks reminded me, I’ve burned through all the Flamingo Estate candles and they’re really great! My favorites are still the Limited Edition Coriandoli Candle and the Euphoria Candle.

reminds me of… my Nonnie! The funny thing about Nonnie was that she randomly collected frogs. Not real frogs, of course, but figurines. She would have them outside her house as a part of the landscape. They were also subtly popping up around the house within her decor. And she used to love to gift a frog stuffed animal! These gold-tone, pearl, and enamel earrings and this gold-tone, enamel, and crystal brooch remind me of her so much. She would LOVE these. They’re such a splurge, which makes me laugh, but regardless, she’d be in love with both pieces.

everything in my cart (low)…spring time dresses under $300. If you need a good white dress, try this white mini dress. And here’s a pretty yellow mini dress too. And how fun is this mini linen dress? All great spring buys!

listened to… the intro to Selena Gomez, benny blanco – I Said I Love You First.

shopping…these coloring egg paper placemats. These are adorable! I would use them for a kids tablescape, but to be honest, I want one of my own!

dreaming of going to… The Rosewood San Miguel de Allende.

loving…Lola blankets! I can’t stop talking about these. No other blanket can compare to a Lola blanket. The Lola blankets are seriously THE softest, but yet light and so warm at the same time. Even after a few washes, they don’t loose their plush softness. I don’t know how they do it, but they’re just the best blankets! I have the original Lola blanket, but I’m ordering the weighted blanket next.

shopping…the Act + Acre Showerhead Filter after reading about how hard our unfiltered water is on our hair! Does anyone here filter their shower water?

wanting…every last fresh flower bouquet on the Terrain website. These Tulip Magnolia Branches are possibly my favorite. So pretty!

everything in my cart (beauty)…the DermInfusions Fill + Repair Eye Cream from Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare.

(reoccurring) empties…the Mutha body butter is without a doubt one of my most often emptied products – love it! The Josie Maran body butter is amazing too. Lastly, I just tried the body butter from Primarily Pure that uses beef tallow in the formula and loved it!

currently loving…the entire 3 step Dr. Diamond’s Metacine InstaFacial Collection. This is a pricey product, so I’ll keep you updated on it the longer I use it!

sidenote…the packaging is so good! The attention to detail!

reading…The ‘With Love, Meghan’ Reactions Prove What We Already Know: Meme Culture Has Become Too Powerful. This couldn’t be more true. Found this piece interesting, and I can relate.

kitchen finds…love these Mattia Hand Painted Bowls.

watching…Freakier Friday, the teaser trailer is so fun, I’m excited!

everything in my cart (high)…everyone talks about these Jenni Kayne sweaters, time to order the Cashmere Fisherman Hoodie.

loving…for springtime nails, I love Periwinkle Nails. Cute! Also, nine more spring nail trends.

reading…The Most Anticipated Books of Spring 2025.

shopping…this Neck & Shoulder Heating Pad. My mom loves this one; it’s so soft.

6. Lifey Things + Inspiring Me.

(making me smile – photo pin)

As I continue to grow as a woman, both personally and professionally, I realize that life really does throw you some challenges, good and bad. In the end, I always learn something and hope that the next day, I’m at least 1% smarter. In reality, occasionally, it’s 1% in the other direction. Regardless, what they say is actually true: with age comes knowledge!

As we (HBH) grow as a website and continue to build the brand, I’m faced with the fact that things do have to, and should, change. Change is HARD for me. I don’t like it, and I tend to procrastinate any kind of change in all aspects of life.

One of those changes is the content we share. For the last 13+ years, we’ve put out at least five brand-new recipes a week, sometimes 6. There are over 4000 recipes on the site. That’s a lot of content—too much, as many love to tell me. I will argue that to the grave—never too much!

But we’ve done some research that shows that posting a new recipe every day isn’t the best approach. It’s too difficult to consume that much content because it doesn’t give followers enough time to see everything. This means it’s time to ease up and also share new content—more lifestyle, behind-the-scenes, travel, and more. And while it is exciting, it’s scary.

As some of you took notice, we didn’t share a new recipe on Wednesday. This was a HUGE change for us and something I’m slowly going to start doing more of. For now, maybe once or twice a month, we’ll share just four new recipes in a week. I know to many of you, this is no big deal, but it’s a big change for me.

There are just A LOT of recipes at this point, and I think our time would be better spent going through the site, organizing recipes, and tidying things up a bit!

I know it’s not a huge change, but even little, itty-bitty changes freak me out. It’s a work in progress!

  1. Perfect time to dial back the amount of recipes if you’re running out of words to describe food! Maybe you could check out other cookbooks, food blogs, or cooking shows? Could be a great way to expand your vocabulary! Great descriptions of each flavor really help me narrow down which recipe I’d like to make.

    1. Hi Emma,
Thanks for reading today and sharing this suggestion! I hope you are having a wonderful weekend! xx

  2. I’m asking just out of curiosity 🙂 You always say you don’t scroll on your phone, so how do you find all these links, items, etc?

  3. I read the article about meme culture with interest. I’ve long been troubled by gratuitous criticisms that seem to have little to do with the artist/creator (i.e. you, Meaghan Sussex etc.) and more to do with a desire to tear them down. If there is something you don’t like, scroll right on by. Don’t be cruel for the sake of being cruel. I am a fan of Half Baked Harvest and a fan of With love, Meaghan. Do I love everything you post/do? Nope! But do I appreciate your approach to fashion, food and entertaining? Absolutely. Keep being you and let the haters hate. I find it gets so much easier to ignore them once they show their true colours.

    1. Thanks so much, Cindy:) I appreciate you reading today and sharing your insight! I totally agree with you that you are not going to love everything that everyone does and it’s completely normal! So glad you are able to enjoy the content that you do like! Happy Sunday! xxT

  4. Super interested in the red light mask but they are so pricy! Has it helped with the eczema you recently mentioned? Is it something that a Dr or dermatologist recommended? I know you get facials when in nyc or la but maybe a derm closer to home in Co would be more beneficial to help with skin troubles!

    1. Hey Marcy! The red light mask has helped even out my skin tone, reduce redness, and I have not gotten a blemish since I started using it years ago! The mask has also helped my younger sister with her acne, too! I don’t think it’s helping with eczema, however. Thank you so much!!

  5. I’ve made pot roast a million times. Your Korean taco recipe is soooooo good. I enjoy the way you put a twist on traditional recipes. Cooking gets so boring sometimes, but your recipes make cooking fun again. I’ve been reading your Sunday blogs for a long time. I even went back and read all your old blogs. Thank-you Tieghan for all you do. I love your recipes, your cart lists, your links, your videos I watch every day on insta and your photos. I’m retired and it all keeps me going on Sundays. Do you have any blogs that inspire you? You list some in links, but I need more! Lol! Maybe other people could list their favorite blogs also. And your empathy quote pretty much sums up FB for me.

    1. Hey Scarlett! Awe, this is such a sweet message (: I am so happy you are enjoying these Sunday posts! They take all week to put together, but this makes it worth it!! Love it!! Aside from the websites I list out, I can’t really think of any that inspire me. I try to stay offline as much as possible, but always share anything that is inspiring me here with you all!! Thank you again for this kind message!

  6. I’m in the “less is more” camp so I look forward to your new content but still enjoying a handful of new recipes every week. Everything I’ve made of yours is usually a winner. One thing, do I need to resubscribe to NFT? I haven’t gotten it in my inbox the past 2 Sundays. Thanks!

    1. Hey there,
Thanks so much for reading today and sharing your feedback regarding the content and weekly recipes:) You should be able to update your settings to make sure you are receiving the NFT emails, if you are still having issues please reach out to contact@halfbakedharvest.com and we can help figure this out! xx

  7. Good Morning!! I’m loving your new Quick and Cozy cookbook!!! Last night we made the Mean Green Salad and Creamy Green Chili Chicken Enchiladas! Oh my! They were so delicious!! And gone!! No left overs here. This week I’m going to make Herby Sun-Dried Tomato Chicken dish!!! Thank you for all you do!!! Xoxo

    1. Hey Sarah,
Awesome!! I am so glad you are enjoying the new cookbooks and the recipes:) I hope you love the sun-dried tomato dish as well. Have a wonderful week! xT

  8. Hi Tieghan!
I’m new here and wanted to know why this called 9 favorite things when it is way more than 9 things? Thank you!

    1. Hey Bri,
Thanks for reading!! Way back when I started these, there were only 9 things, but the Sunday posts have definitely evolved into much more:) I hope you enjoyed! Have a great Sunday! xx

  9. Wow, nice to hear things are finally changing a bit, like you’ve said in many of your panels, you have to evolve to meet your audience! 4,000 recipes is a LOT, if I were you I’d just work on hand selecting a few hundred favorites and get rid of some of the more redundant ones. You recently told people to disregard your 10+ year old General Taos recipe so maybe it’s just time to archive some of those! Good luck with all the upcoming changes, scaling back doesn’t sound scary at all, seems like a great opportunity to rediscover your passion and escape burnout (:

    1. Hi Marlo,
Happy Sunday! Thanks for sharing your suggestions regarding the recipes. Yes, it is definitely a great opportunity for growth, but change is scary for me:) Hope you enjoyed the post today! xxT

  10. Happy Sunday, Tieghan!
The recipes are my favorite part but I understand that sometimes change is needed. As you are tidying up the website, would it be possible to get a heads up if any recipes are being archived? I have bookmarked a ton in my browser and I’d be devastated if I lost any of my many HBH go-to recipes!
    Have a great day!

    1. Hi Christy,
Thanks so much for reading today! Yes, we would definitely share that information, we wouldn’t want you to lose any of your favorite recipes! Have a great Sunday! xxT

  11. A tropical family trip sounds divine! Hopefully you’re able to join…I know it’s been tricky to make past family trips happen! Traveling with your family more often seems like a great way to achieve your shift towards more lifestyle content. New York is great but seeing the same fries and bread at hotspots like the corner store can feel just as redundant as daily recipes. Thank you for being open to feedback!

    1. Hey Jaime,
Thanks for reading today! I know, right?! Especially with the snow, the warm weather sounds so refreshing! I appreciate you sharing your feedback and suggestions! Have a great Sunday! XxT

  12. My spelling and pronunciation IQ is very low so I totally identify with you.
I love your empathy quote today!
I suffer from the notion that more is better and I would imagine you might too. I have to practice the undoing of this believe on the regular. In that spirit I support your decision to scale back on the recipes. I am sure the research you did regarding content is spot on. Some of the very best food bloggers I know post once or twice a month. I hope it rolls out with an easing of the emotional tie for you!

    1. Hi Cari,
Happy Sunday and thanks for reading:) Glad you enjoyed todays post and the empathy quote. I appreciate your feedback and message:) Have a great week ahead! xx

  13. Hey T, nice post, as always! Could you share what you wear for legs up the wall? It’s something I’d like to get started with, but… I’m stuck on the best outfit. Who better to ask!

    1. Hey Monikka,
I’m usually just in my leggings or sweatpants:) Let me know if you give it a try! Thanks for reading today! xx

    1. Thanks so much for reading today, Sarah!! I would love to hear any suggestions that you do have, I think it’s so hard sometimes! xx

      1. Kinda posted about this above (pending approval!) I think exploring the way that other chefs or home cooks describe flavors would be a great way to expand your cooking vocab aside from words like delicious and divine!
