Nine Favorite Things

Nine Favorite Things:

Kicking this off with something random. I just canโ€™t stop using the word โ€œdivineโ€ in the context of yummy food. I must have heard someone say โ€œdivineโ€. Something about this word has just stuck with me! I talk about delicious food a lot, so I do try to switch up my words. But if you think about it, there arenโ€™t a lot of words to describe delicious food. Divine is my newest addition!

Do you think it fits? I kind of love it. But in a week, I may hate it. I change my mind A LOT. And yes, Iโ€™m aware I spelled it wrong on Fridayโ€™s post (fixed!). My dad and I are quite challenged in the spelling and pronunciation departments!

Moving on, I hope youโ€™ve all had a wonderful week since we last caught up! Nothing too exciting to share. I spent my week cooking, photographing, and filming, had many meetings mixed in, and shivered my way through the week. Weโ€™ve had some cold end-of-winter weather, and itโ€™s currently dumping snow! Spring has not yet sprung here!

But itโ€™s ok! Weโ€™ve all got stuff weโ€™re getting excited about. My mom has been planning lots of spring travel. Theyโ€™ll be heading to the tropics to visit my grandpa when I head to LA. I hope to meet up with them mid-trip, maybe just before Easter! Very much looking forward to some tropical weather. I got a taste of warmth a few weeks ago in Miami. Ever since, Iโ€™ve been dreaming of more time in Florida. It will be great to spend a little time with my family too. Mom, Dad, Asher, Oslo, and you know Creighton will be joining too!

I head to New York on Thursday. Then, after a week back in the kitchen, Iโ€™ll be off to LA for a design meeting with the Amber Interiors team. The studio barn should be finished in May, so exciting!

And you all, itโ€™s been so fun to see everyoneโ€™s excitement over our upcoming event with my good friend Benny! I know many of you are bummed because youโ€™re not in New York! I wish there were a way to see more of you. But Bennyโ€™s a very busy guy, and luckily, the timing just worked out weโ€™d both be in New York, so weโ€™re finally making this happen! Maybe more to come, but as of right now, this is the last in-person event for a while. Iโ€™m just so excited for it!

Weโ€™ll be hosting a few great giveaways at the event! I think weโ€™ll do one on Instagram as well and, of course, one for ourย email subscribers too!

Sharing more of the details below for anyone who missed last weekโ€™s post.

How about you all? Are you traveling this month? Staying put? Whatโ€™s something thatโ€™s making you happy right now?

I hope you all are having the best start to spring! Enjoy another fun favorite post, I have lots to share below!

1. Things iโ€™m loving, wanting, and excited to try.

orderedโ€ฆtheseย Lovely Pattern Journals that come in a set of 3. I get them on Anthro and they switch up the designs seasonally, I think theyโ€™re so cute, and they work perfectly as my recipe notebooks. I usualy get through all three over the course of a few months, but I love them! Also, picked up these cute matchsticks for spring to light my candles. Iโ€™m such a sucker for good packaging.

burningโ€ฆthe matchsticks reminded me, Iโ€™ve burned through all the Flamingo Estate candles and theyโ€™re really great! My favorites are still the Limited Edition Coriandoli Candle and the Euphoria Candle.

reminds me ofโ€ฆ my Nonnie! The funny thing about Nonnie was that she randomly collected frogs. Not real frogs, of course, but figurines. She would have them outside her house as a part of the landscape. They were also subtly popping up around the house within her decor. And she used to love to gift a frog stuffed animal!ย Theseย gold-tone, pearl, and enamel earrings and this gold-tone, enamel, and crystal brooch remind me of her so much. She would LOVE these. Theyโ€™re such a splurge, which makes me laugh, but regardless, sheโ€™d be in love with both pieces.

everything in my cart (low)โ€ฆspring time dresses under $300. If you need a good white dress, try this white mini dress. And hereโ€™s a pretty yellow mini dress too. And how fun is this mini linen dress? All great spring buys!

listened toโ€ฆ the intro to Selena Gomez, benny blanco โ€“ I Said I Love You First.

shoppingโ€ฆthese coloring egg paper placemats. These are adorable! I would use them for a kids tablescape, but to be honest, I want one of my own!

dreaming of going toโ€ฆ The Rosewood San Miguel de Allende.

lovingโ€ฆLola blankets! I canโ€™t stop talking about these. No other blanket can compare to a Lola blanket. The Lola blankets are seriously THE softest, but yet light and so warm at the same time. Even after a few washes, they donโ€™t loose their plush softness. I donโ€™t know how they do it, but theyโ€™re just the best blankets! I have the original Lola blanket, but Iโ€™m ordering the weighted blanket next.

shoppingโ€ฆthe Act + Acre Showerhead Filter after reading about how hard our unfiltered water is on our hair! Does anyone here filter their shower water?

wantingโ€ฆevery last fresh flower bouquet on the Terrain website. Theseย Tulip Magnolia Branches are possibly my favorite. So pretty!

everything in my cart (beauty)โ€ฆtheย DermInfusions Fill + Repair Eye Cream from Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare.

(reoccurring) emptiesโ€ฆthe Mutha body butter is without a doubt one of my most often emptied products โ€“ love it! The Josie Maran body butter is amazing too. Lastly, I just tried the body butter from Primarily Pure that uses beef tallow in the formula and loved it!

currently lovingโ€ฆthe entire 3 step Dr. Diamondโ€™sย Metacine InstaFacial Collection. This is a pricey product, so Iโ€™ll keep you updated on it the longer I use it!

sidenoteโ€ฆthe packaging is so good! The attention to detail!

kitchen findsโ€ฆlove theseย Mattia Hand Painted Bowls.

watchingโ€ฆFreakier Friday, the teaser trailer is so fun, Iโ€™m excited!

everything in my cart (high)โ€ฆeveryone talks about these Jenni Kayne sweaters, time to order the Cashmere Fisherman Hoodie.

lovingโ€ฆfor springtime nails, I love Periwinkle Nails. Cute! Also, nine more spring nail trends.

shoppingโ€ฆthisย Neck & Shoulder Heating Pad. My mom loves this one; itโ€™s so soft.

6. Lifey Things + Inspiring Me.

(making me smile โ€“ photo pin)

As I continue to grow as a woman, both personally and professionally, I realize that life really does throw you some challenges, good and bad. In the end, I always learn something and hope that the next day, Iโ€™m at least 1% smarter. In reality, occasionally, itโ€™s 1% in the other direction. Regardless, what they say is actually true: with age comes knowledge!

As we (HBH) grow as a website and continue to build the brand, Iโ€™m faced with the fact that things do have to, and should, change. Change is HARD for me. I donโ€™t like it, and I tend to procrastinate any kind of change in all aspects of life.

One of those changes is the content we share. For the last 13+ years, weโ€™ve put out at least five brand-new recipes a week, sometimes 6. There are over 4000 recipes on the site. Thatโ€™s a lot of contentโ€”too much, as many love to tell me. I will argue that to the graveโ€”never too much!

But weโ€™ve done some research that shows that posting a new recipe every day isnโ€™t the best approach. Itโ€™s too difficult to consume that much content because it doesnโ€™t give followers enough time to see everything. This means itโ€™s time to ease up and also share new contentโ€”more lifestyle, behind-the-scenes, travel, and more. And while it is exciting, itโ€™s scary.

As some of you took notice, we didnโ€™t share a new recipe on Wednesday. This was a HUGE change for us and something Iโ€™m slowly going to start doing more of. For now, maybe once or twice a month, weโ€™ll share just four new recipes in a week. I know to many of you, this is no big deal, but itโ€™s a big change for me.

There are just A LOT of recipes at this point, and I think our time would be better spent going through the site, organizing recipes, and tidying things up a bit!

I know itโ€™s not a huge change, but even little, itty-bitty changes freak me out. Itโ€™s a work in progress!

  1. Hey There:
Change is hard, I know. My husband and I are small business owners of a winery and tasting room in Ventura, CA. We like to call it โ€œthe pivotโ€ as growing and learning and adapting seems like something we always do. it is frightening- there is no manual.

Becasue I seem to always be working, one of my few pleasures is reading your blog. It is my Sunday morning- stop the world, indulgence.

So, after reading your story today, about change, I was compelled to just tell you-
I follow you becasue I can somehow relate to your โ€œfamily businessโ€; because you feel like a good person to me; I love your creativity- in all things; your excitement for your projects is contagious, and much more.

So, change, add, delete, move foreward as you see fit and donโ€™t let it- or anyone put you in a corner.

    1. Hi Holly,
Thank you so much for reading today. I appreciate you sharing your words of inspiration:) I am sure you and your husband know all too well about change as small business owners. I love to hear you enjoy reading the blog each Sunday. Thanks for being here! Have a great week! xx

  2. Okay the opening photo! Gorgeous
Iโ€™m in the middle of reading my first emily Henry book, so good to know I have another of hers to look forward to!
Out of all the recipes you shared, Iโ€™m most excited to try the Italian Salad Samdwhidh! Would love to one day hear your process of recipe developing! Fascinated!
Cheering you on as you navigate some changes (not an easy thing to do!) weโ€™ve loved what youโ€™ve done this far, and Iโ€™m confident weโ€™ll continue to love it!

    1. Hey Kelcy,
Happy Sunday and thanks for reading! Hope you are enjoying the book you are reading:) Let me know if you give the sandwich a try, itโ€™s a good one! Have a great day! xx

  3. Hi Teighan! Have been following you forever!! What instagram filter do you use for your stories (e.g. when youโ€™re filming your into to a recipe)? I never see a tag when you post and I cant find a filter that looks the same as the one you use. Thank you and have a great week <3

    1. Thanks so much, Lindsey!! I donโ€™t use any filters on my food on IG when sharing:) Please let me know if you have any other questions! xx

  4. Hey Teghan! I know youโ€™re on the go all the time & not on your phone much, so I was just curious how you compile this list every week? ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Hi Samantha,
I do the bulk of my work on my computer:) Please let me know if you have any other questions! xx

      1. Sorry, I meant that since you donโ€™t scroll, how do you find all these links, ideas, etc? Curious how your mind works! ๐Ÿ™‚

        1. I search on the internet:) When I say scroll, I am referring to scrolling mindlessly on IG and Tik Tok.

  5. Hi,
I really think it is a good idea to post 3 or 4 recipes in a week, so you will have more time to share other interesting things.
Some food bloggers post once a week and it is great to wait for a new recipe every week.
Donโ€™t worry, it will work well.

    Greeting from Bolivia
    Best wishes for you

    1. Hi Andrea,
Thanks for your kind message and encouragement:) I hope you are having a great week so far! xxT

  6. Hey Tieghan! I appreciate you sharing about your resistance to change. Iโ€™m right there with you and understand completely. With that, I am also understanding of the reasoning behind this change, and I support it 100%! Love to see you and this brand continue to evolve!

    1. Hey Maura,
Thanks for reading and sharing your thoughts on change:) Glad I am not the only one who feels this way, I appreciate your support! Have a wonderful week ahead! xxT

  7. Happy spring! Youโ€™ve had a busy month, thatโ€™s a lot of podcasts and articles youโ€™ve consumed! What did you think of the Ina Garten one? I know sheโ€™s been an inspiration for you. I think fewer recipes sounds like a great idea, hopefully that frees up more time for you and Asher to explore more hobbies and maybe you can take a trip to the tropics!

Maybe with some of the changes you could include a section for budget links on your newsletter (maybe $25 or less?) Iโ€™d love to try some of your skincare recs but itโ€™s as much as a mortgage payment haha

    1. Hi Connie,
Thank you so much for taking the time to read and comment today! I would love to actually take the time to read Inaโ€™s book, I bet itโ€™s great and who doesnโ€™t love Ina?! I appreciate your feedback regarding the content and reducing recipes:) Yes, I can certainly try to add in some more budget friendly items as well. Have a wonderful week! xT
