Hello everyone! I hope you’ve all had a nice week! I’ve been enjoying my time at home in Colorado this month. After so much travel, both over the summer and in the fall, getting back into my cozy home life feels nice. Plus, it’s the perfect time of year to be home too.
We’ve had frigid temperatures, but it’s very snowy and cozy. The cozy days have made my time in the kitchen feel welcomed. I’ve been embracing the wintery light; it feels a little moodier and cozier!
There are so many new recipes that I’m really excited to share! Coming up, we have a good mix of colorful dinners, game day-inspired dishes, and cute treats for Valentine’s. Fun fact: I LOVE a holiday, even the small ones like Valentine’s Day. I have so much fun with holidays!
Of course, I’m excited for February! It will be back to travel for me, and I can’t wait. As much as I love being home, I also love the change of pace.
Plus, I think I need it. January is supposed to be the month to create all these amazing habits, routines, and goals. But personally, I’ve found two things to be true. First, I’m having the hardest time creating a solid routine, which feels very off for me. I LOVE and usually thrive with a routine, but right now, I’m kind of all over the map. Again, I think a change of pace will be good!
Second, and somewhat along the same lines, I’ve found a lot of the January content being shared to be overwhelming. It feels like a “wellness overload”.
Anyone else feeling that vibe a bit? It’s OK to be happy with how you currently are. We don’t have to make these huge life changes, baby steps can be nice too!
Just my thoughts.
Let’s see what else. Oh, I’ve been listening to podcasts a lot. I’ll listen while I do the dishes. It makes cleaning the kitchen at the end of the day enjoyable for me! I’m sharing a few below from this week that I really enjoyed!
Some other small buckets of joy… evening walks with everyone’s holiday lights still shining bright, candles every night, long calls with my mom talking both work and fun. And this may seem silly, but with how cold it’s been, my sauna blanket is my happy place every night. What are you enjoying most right now? Curious to hear what’s making you all feel happy!
I think that’s it for today. I was hoping to have our book tour dates for you all. Unfortunately, we still haven’t gotten everything quite nailed down with our team, sorry, next week!
Have a lovely Sunday! Enjoy another Favorite’s post!
loving…Valentine’s Day PJs, this set from J Crew is super cute. I love PJs, especially in the winter. I wear the Eterne lounge pant pretty much every night, they are the softest material.
reading….
Mom is heading to Aspen soon to watch Red at X Games, so she needs these cashmere-lined leather touchscreen gloves. I also want to convince her to travel with this oversize cashmere wrap. This would keep her so warm and cozy on cold flights! Ordering her these cuffed sweater pants. These I know she will wear! And they’re on sale. My mom LOVES a sale.
everything in my cart (low)…from Zara, this basic knit sweater and super cozy long fur coat.
Ordered this ribbed featherweight cashmere T-shirt. All things cashmere this winter, even our tees!
listening to….
also listening to… and
dreaming of going to…. For the next trip to Austria, I’m convincing my mom to stay here. Luxury please!
trying…electrolytes. My older brother, Creighton, keeps telling me how I need to be taking electrolytes for better hydration. I’ve also heard this on so many podcasts, so order the unflavored packets!
gifting..this faux fur throw blanket and cozy socks (over 1,600 4-star reviews on Amazon). It’s winter – who doesn’t love a cozy gift? Adding a candle to the mix too!
watching….
everything in my cart (beauty)…I just ordered this dermal defense hand cream and am excited to try it!
Lastly, I currently have the Goop dry brush and love it, but I’m thinking of ordering this copper body brush for its added benefits. When you use this dry brush, the friction created by the copper bristles penetrates the skin with beneficial negative ions. Sounds fancy!
ordered…new notebooks. I use one for writing out recipes, and another for my daily to-dos. I ordered this set of 3 notebooks for recipes. And then, my favorite Golden Coil spiral-bound notebooks. I always get the leather or linen covers. What’s your favorite notebook? How about pens?! I really need to order new pens!
watching…Anora was good, and Wicked was amazing.
wearing on my nails…. Love these shades and the nontoxic nail polish too. I found some colors on Amazon as well!
everything in my cart (high)…love this Medium Olivia Hobo bag from Khaite. But also found The Medium Bag that’s honestly just as cute!
following… Raphael Metivet, a photographer capturing the beauty of Paris.
baking…GHIRARDELLI Double Chocolate Premium Brownie Mix. Over 6,000 positive reviews! On a search for a better brownie mix. Trying this next. What’s your favorite from the box mix?
following…Lone Fox Home. This is Drew Michael Scott’s Amazon page, and the amount of awesome Amazon home decor finds he has is unreal. A great Amazon shop to follow!

I’ve been doing this since I was 19!! So crazy how long it’s been! I never thought I wanted to cook for a living.
I’ve always loved fashion and thought I would be a stylist. But I’ve also always loved cooking for the people around me. Eventually, that led me to start this website. I was accepted at FIDM (The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising) at 18. But I went out early and didn’t love LA. I was so lost. It was my mom who encouraged me to start the website. In October 2012, we created the site together and haven’t looked back since. It’s been the best move I’ve ever made and has given me SO MUCH.
And now, I’m so excited about everything we’ve created and what we’re working towards! Creating this website and community has been so fulfilling. You all really did save me. I struggled so much as a kid. This website gave me purpose and happiness. I’ve worked nonstop ever since hitting the publish button for the first time, and I couldn’t be happier about it!
I love that this is my full-time job, I can’t imagine doing anything else. It’s grown into more than I ever imagined.
I know so many of you miss seeing Asher and Oslo on the website and in social. It’s not that I’ll never share them again. Sometimes, I do, I’m just very cautious about it now.
No one in my family is overly excited to be on camera and used within my content. The online space is beautiful, and I’m so grateful for it, but it opens you up to a lot of criticism and hurtful comments at times. It’s not something I want them to have to deal with. They didn’t choose this, so it’s not my right to force it (I had to remove a photo just yesterday because my mom didn’t like it).
Creighton, on the other hand, could clearly care less, so expect more of him!
And then there’s the safety piece of it all. It’s really not safe with the amount of following I have. I’d feel horrible if anything ever happened, you know? Trust me, I would love to share more, but this feels best for us.

Love this article featured on A Cup of Joe this week. I’m curious, what’s your house speciality? The one dish or snack you always make or have on hand?
My specialties are crispy tacos, chili, and pasta alla vodka. And I always try to have enough cheese, cured meats, pickled things, and crackers/pretzels in the house to create a cheese board for snacking. Creating a cheeseboard is one of my favorites!
What is your house speciality? I’d love to know!

Keep up the good work! I have all four of your books and I cook out of them all the time! My sister-in-law introduced me to you a few years ago, and you have quickly become my favorite food blogger/cookbook author! While i am not into the fashion side of Nine Favorite things, I always enjoy reading it every Sunday morning and gaining inspiration for recipes and home decor.
Thanks for the post T.
Completely understand wanting to protect your family and I’m sure they appreciate it, considering how some followers behave.
I don’t mind the links to politics. It’s your post and you’re allowed to put in it what you want. It’s fine to hear someone’s opinion and we can either agree or not, no need to be hostile.
Hope you have a great Sunday and good week!
Great post, as always. Last week too, I couldn’t comment for some reason, kept crashing.
Since I’ve stopped with the ‘New Year, New You’ stuff I’ve enjoyed January and February a lot more. Bit of slower down time in Winter. 😊 xx
People, drop it. This whole thing is nasty and RIDICULOUS. You wanna go, please do!!! I’m here for the recipes, period.
Hahahaha you are all so WILD!
This poor girl is getting so much hate for linking a podcast episode and a vogue article about something important happening in our country.
Live and let live and then move along.
Also, you are assuming so much about her political beliefs and that she absolutely LOVES Trump. Hilarious. Actually comical. You don’t know her. Go find a hobby and try to heal your hateful hearts.
I have followed you for a number of years and purchased your cookbooks and tried your recipes. Thank you for bringing your politics to light. That you support a convicted felon and rapist and his family means I can no longer respect you or follow your content. For those who say ‘just move along’, I am, but not without comment.
A lot of people in this site act like petty jr. high schoolers.I hsve never seen anything like it. So if you all choose to unsubscribe or threaten to not go on this site for any reason. Please just do it No need for the announcement . Same as choosing what you like to watch on TV or what books or podcasts you listen to. T has every right to pick and choose a variety of different topics of her interests.. Please us all a favor exit gracefully Debbie
Have you tried Levenger pens ? They are my absolute favorite and I wrote all day for work. The weight of them is so lovely and their rollerball ink makes it so nice to write. I must have now over 6 pens. Not cheap but so worth the price. Love Love Love them 💕💕💕

Hello! I’m a new reader of the blog after being recently introduced to HBH by a co-worker. Quick question! Do you ever tweak or update existing recipes? I wanted to start by making a broccoli cheddar soup but was immediately overwhelmed by the number of recipes. Which one would you consider to be your gold standard? Or is there a specific need for so many versions that I’m not aware of? Thanks in advance!
Looking forward to more of your delicious recipes for 2025, as well as tomorrow’s inauguration! Please note that I’m keeping count of the readers who say they are unsubscribing, I am reaching out to friends and family to subscribe to your website and fill those vacancies. You can’t please everyone, but I know your intention is to create and make the world a tastier and prettier place. Well done Tieghan!
Happy Sunday, Tieghan! Loved this weeks blog. I scoured the “30 Books…” link because for the past 6 months or so I’ve been reading EVERYWHERE! (I’m usually reading 2 or 3 at a time.) Thanks for that list! I’m excited for the inauguration, and that was a great link, too. The standout link, though? Ghirardelli’s Brownie Mix! LOL – it really is the best mix when you want a delicious brownies IMMEDIATELY! My house specialty? Fresh baked scones and loose leaf tea. I keep a batch of scones frozen (before baking) and can pop them in my smart oven at the doorbell ring. I have a few different loose leaf teas (caff and decaf), and keep hot water in my kettle on the stove. I’ve been with ya for some years, but I’m glad you did the intro! Love your blog! Have a great week!
Loved all of the soup and chili inspo in one post! And I am a HUGE fan of LMNT after hearing about it on the Skinny Confidential (which was also inspired by your interview on their podcast) and the hot flavors are SO good. I highly recommend them. My way to embrace winter is through hot drinks and theirs is in my lineup. And I also always turn to you for great ideas for meals and Sunday dinner when my adult kids come over.
Hi Susan,
Thanks for reading today! Glad you enjoyed the chili and soup recipe shares, let me know if you try any of them:) Ohhh I will definitely have to give the hot flavors a try, thanks for the recommendation. Have a great Sunday! xxT
I enjoy your posts. I am glad you dream about things. I dream about things too. Isn’t that normal behavior? People who have no hopes or dreams are lost in my opinion. They have to be very sad individuals…..
And as far as you mentioning Trump… Glad to see it. Regardless of ones political thoughts… He will soon be our president and we should respect that position even if he was not your choice he is your president. We should show respect.
This is your space that I choose to visit. I for one will respect you and your content. Thank you for providing the blog.
Another great post Tieghan! Thank you! Right now I’m into “winter” meals. My hubby thinks it’s funny I have “summer and “winter” meals. My go to right now is homemade chicken and noodles with dumplings and homemade chili! It’s freezing where I am right now! I drink a lot of hot oolong tea to warm me up! Have a great day! Love you and your beautiful family!
So excited for our Country again now that President Trump is back in the house! I can’t wait to watch his inauguration! Just a fun fact: My parents went to John F. Kennedy’s inauguration!
Hi Sara,
Thanks so much for reading today:) Lol I totally agree with you, there are definitely different meals for each season and right now it’s all cozy stuff! Stay warm and have a great weekend! xT
I have been following since probably 2013, that was the year I got married, really started cooking and scouring Pinterest for inspiration. Your recipes have always been a staple for my family. I remember the first recipe I ever made was a wild rice casserole dish and in the blog portion of the post you talked about how the dish you used had broken into a million pieces and your dad glued it back together for you to use in the photos. We were so excited when Red went to the Olympics in 2018 and WON GOLD haha! Some of us have been here for a long time and still appreciate all the content and have grown with you! I look forward to your Sunday posts and have been reading every single one since you started publishing them. Your recipes are an at least weekly staple in my house and everyone I cook for knows when I’ve made a HBH recipe! Thank you for helping me be an inspired cook and all the entertainment along the way!!
Hi Kendra,
Wow, I can’t believe you have been following along for so long, that is amazing!! Aww, I love these memories that you shared. Thank you so much for being here and continuing to follow along and try new recipes. Have a the best weekend! xxT
