Nine Favorite Things

Hello from the south of France!

If you’ve been following me on Instagram, you know that I’ve spent this week in Cannes, France, for the Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity. This is my first time in Europe, and it was such an amazing trip! I’m sharing all of the details for the first part of my travels below.

Because I am traveling, I’m going to attempt not to make this post a mile long. It will be short and sweet for today but back to normal next week. I will say that I feel so lucky to have come to France for work. Did I ever imagine that I could be that girl traveling the world for work? No, not in a million years!

I am not the same girl I was at 16. I’m not even close to the girl I was 12 years ago when we first started Half Baked Harvest. I’ve grown so much, and in ways I just never thought possible for me. No one could have predicted I would be running my own business, let alone traveling to the South of France to talk about exactly how I did it! Pinch me moment!

Anyway, more on my trip below, but mostly so many photos.

I’m going to be traveling a lot over the next few months. Let me know what you find most exciting for me to share with you all, I love sharing!

I’m looking forward to getting home this week. I’ll be working on some new recipes ahead of my brother’s wedding, which is being held in Colorado in our studio space. I’ll also be making more travel plans for the weeks and months ahead. We have some exciting adventures and news coming very soon!

That’s all I have for today. Have a great week!

4. The First Half of France.

Nine Favorite Things

First off, I came to France with our advertising agency, Raptive. We’ve worked with Raptive for many, many years (and through several name changes). They’ve been our longest partnership, and the partnership that’s really brought us the most value through the years.

Raptive runs the advertisements you see on the website. They do their best to present you with only ads that resonate most with you and your lifestyle. They’ve been amazing partners, and I’m honored to be here in France with them.

They brought me here to speak on building a brand through human connection and the importance of building a strong community. If you’re not familiar with Cannes Lions, it’s one of the biggest media conferences in the world. Pretty much every media company is here. As are many recognizable creatives such as Jay Shetty, Gabrielle Union, Jessica Alba, and Elon Musk.

My longtime friend, Cait Harvey (and also a stylist who works with Sydney Lopez) was my partner in crime for this trip. We left LA on Sunday and arrived in Nice, France on Monday afternoon. It was a long trip with a handful of stressful situations. But we made it — and even better, our bags made it too! Of course, we needed all our cute outfits for the south of France.

Once we got to the hotel I went out for a little walk to move my legs (water and movement while you travel is the secret). Then we got dressed for dinner. We’re staying at the Chateau St. Martin in Vence, France. It’s about 50 minutes outside of Cannes, which we are actually finding kind of nice. It’s been good to be away from the chaos of Cannes, as there are a lot of people here. Plus, they brought the Olympic torch through the city on Tuesday. This was super cool, but brought even more people in to Cannes!

We went to dinner at the cutest little restaurant, Le Tilleul, in the legendary village of Saint Paul de Vence. It was beautiful, and the menu was delicious Mediterranean cuisine. We ordered the fried goat cheese salad, which came with the yummiest phyllo dough wrapped around the cheese in a honey vinaigrette. Then, greens, figs, tomatoes, etc., were also tossed in the honey vinaigrette. Delish. For our entrées, we had the sea bass and ravioli. Both dishes were wonderful!

We walked around the cute village, got espressos, and then headed back to the hotel for the night.

The following morning I was up early, did my morning workout, then went to have hair and makeup done for the day ahead. The first day of Cannes I lead a group session and spoke about creating and building our brand through human connection. We then did a short Q&A about how our advertising company, Raptive, supports their creators. And then we did something fun – I ran through how I put together a cheeseboard. It went really well. I honestly love speaking about business and sharing how we built ours, as it’s kind of unique.

Following my session, I had a few brand meetings to attend. We grabbed some small bites and drinks, walked around, and then had dinner. Dinner was at Mood in Cannes. I’m not sure it’s very well known, but everything we ordered was very good!

Dinner ran late until about 10:30 p.m. Then Cait and I grabbed a Taxi to head back to our hotel. It’s about a 45-50-minute drive, depending on traffic, but we didn’t mind. I think we both slept most of the way!

Once I showered, I finished up some work, called my parents, and went to bed.

Wednesday, I woke up again pretty early, did my workout, and then did my hair and makeup before heading into Cannes for the day. Wednesday was a big Q&A. I love a Q&A, so I was really looking forward to this day! And even cooler, I found out once I arrived that I would be speaking alongside Gabrielle Union. Yet another pinch-me moment.

The Q&A could not have gone better, and I really enjoyed all of the questions and thoughtful conversations.

Following the event, I had two brand meetings and was done for the day around six. We headed back to the hotel around seven. I did all the things to prep for bed (work, shower, work, call mom), ate at the restaurant, and went to bed. The one thing about Cannes? It’s going to tire you out at the end of the day!

It’s been the most wonderful trip so far, despite not having the best weather. The weather was perfection on Monday night and all day Tuesday, but Wednesday and today are very rainy.

There will be more to come on the last couple of days of the trip next week. But this is really the bulk of it, as we’re headed home in the morning. One more day in France!

5. Something fun! What Easy Dinners Do You Make After a Long Day?

As soon as I see the season’s peaches at the market, I love to make my Tomato, Peach, and Burrata Salad. And this Lemon Parmesan Sesame Salad really is my go-to all year round. I love a great bowl, and this one is so yummy – Honey Lime Chili Chicken Bowls. And then, of course, there’s tacos, always tacos. Right now, Sheet Pan Chipotle Steak Tacos with Mango Salsa.

  1. Everyone’s gonna have an opinion, T. And you know what they say about those…

Disregard them. Keep up the amazing work. None of them can, or will dull your shine. ❤️

    You have SO got this.

  2. Just read the piece in People mag? Is there any reason you’ve chosen not to see some sort of specialist if doxtor if you suspect you have adhd or dyslexia? I’m sure this is very personal, but I work in the field and see how much intervention had improved quality of life for patients of all ages. Taking care of your mental health is just as important as taking vitamins and cratine! Wishing you health and healing.

  3. I notice that you’ve been mentioning morning workouts more often than you used to. I love health and wellness content! Would you ever consider sharing more of what these workouts entail? You have such a slender physique so I assume these workouts are killer! Would love to balance out all of my yummy HBH cooking with some extra fitness tips from the creator herself.

    1. Hey Marina,
Thanks a lot for reading:) Yes, I would be happy to share more about my workouts in future NFT posts! I always do a daily hike when I am home, it’s my favorite way to start the day. Have an awesome Monday! xT

  4. I’ve noticed the clothing/accessories you put in your nine favorite things posts and your
personal style and the clothing you actually wear are very different. Just wondering if there is a reason for that or if your NFT posts are ideas of things you love for others, but not necessarily yourself? Also, side note, but would love to see more ‘outfits of the day’ when you are at home in Colorado-more of your every day casual looks not just the special event or travel looks.

    1. Hey Emily,
Thanks for reading today and your comment! I like to share really a variety of things in my NFT posts including things I’m loving that I might not necessarily wear myself. I try to share inspiration that might appeal to a lot of different people. Hopefully this makes sense:) LOL my day to day outfits when I’m working and at home are always leggings and a shirt or hoodie! Have a great Monday! xx

  5. Love the looks! I’m always looking for summer inspiration on how to dress appropriately for the weather but still remain a bit covered up! I prefer modest dressing and like to cover my arms just like you seem to prefer-the scarf look was genius!

    1. I agree with you Margaret, it is refreshing to see a young women not dressing overly sexy. I appreciate all the looks. I am 2 decades older than Tieghan but could see myself wearing all her looks!

      1. Just because T. Is being appropriately nice to you in response to your extremely transparent, obvious, and not remotely clever failed attempts at snark doesn’t mean you are at all “doing something”. You’re not. My god, you fools need to grow up.

It’s called “killing the cockroaches with kindness”. Something she has to do because she’s an incredibly successful public figure.

Hopefully it’s as fast and effective as a can of Raid and a blowtorch.

        Stay lame, babes.

        1. It’s not the first time the haters pull this “I’m an old woman and your clothes are perfect for me and church.” It’s not even subtle. It’s just dumb and childish. Typical hater mentality.

    2. Hey Margaret,
Thank you so much for reading and your thoughtful message:) I’ve never been one to show a lot of skin, so I can totally relate to you! Hope you are having a great Monday! xx

  6. I just want to say that I always appreciate seeing photos of your lovely outfits. As an older woman who is on the larger side and isn’t exactly a fashion model, I’m always inspired by clothes that aren’t your typical “fashionable” pieces, but just normal looks I could see myself wearing 🙂

    1. Hey Charlene,
Thank you so much for your kind message:) I love that you enjoy seeing some of clothing photos that I’ve been sharing! Have the best week! xT

  7. Love that supporting women in business is a passion of yours! Who are some of your favorite female founders? Do you have any book recommendations by businesswoman that inspire you? Would love some recs! Preferably not any dear media podcast hosts lol!

    1. Hey Cara,
Thanks so much!! I love Alex Copper, Jasmin Hekmat, Cass Dimicco, Molly Simms, so many follow! Have a great week:) xx

  8. What was your favorite French food you tried during this trip? Did you visit any markets? Did you swim in that beautiful blue water?

    1. Hey Hannah! I LOVED the phyllo dough wrapped goat cheese. So delicious! I wish I could have had more time to explore, but it’s been limited. No swimming, but I will be back in Europe soon! thank you so much! xx

  9. I really hope for you that your last couple days are spent in Paris! The food is amazing and there is just so much to do and see. Remember to take time for yourself.

    1. Hey Greta,
Thanks so much!! I wasn’t able to make it this trip, but would love to visit soon:) Have a great Monday! xx

  10. Thank you for sharing your photos of France. Looks absolutley lovely! Your black sandals are sooooo cute. Are you able to share where they are from. The brown slides too.

  11. Beautiful! Curious how the wedding is fitting into the renovation plans? Was it originally going to be finished in time for the wedding?

    1. Thanks, Margaret!! Oh no, the renovations were never going to be finished in time for the wedding:) Nothing major has happened to the studio just yet, so it will be totally fine for the celebration! Happy Sunday! xx

      1. Oh so they have already started working on the studio? Can you share more about the process? I love following along with that kind of thing!

  12. Happy Sunday, Tieghan! Cannes looked SO LOVELY, and I’m happy you had – AND TOOK – the opportunity to go! Looking forward to more pics.

    1. Thanks so much, Kerita!! Truly such an amazing opportunity and I’m so glad I was able to be there. Thanks for reading today and have a great week:) xx

    2. You included a clip on Instagram about the NY Times article making false allegations. Is the reason you haven’t spoken about the article due to a lawsuit against them for making false allegations? I’ve wondered about why you didn’t have a stronger reaction when it was published but it would make sense if you couldn’t due to legal reasons! Hope we will be getting some recipes inspired by your travels, the Mediterranean is my favorite place for food.

        1. I read the article and would think the NY Times would perform their due diligence on facts, but since it didn’t get discussed, I had to assume it might be due to a lawsuit? If I were Tieghan, I’d want to share my thoughts and what I thought they got wrong!

      1. I read the NY Times article as well and saw that it was written by a Pulitzer Prize winning reporter. It seems many people who commented on the article found it to be accurate reporting and an honest portrayal of HBH. So I wonder why Tieghan told the audience at the panel discussion in France that it contained “false allegations.” The article from what I remember contained direct quotes from Tieghan and her mother. And the photos the Times took of T at her home were very pretty.

        1. Completely agree with this take! Maybe team HBH was confused on how publications like the NYT work, you don’t have control over the tone of the piece. The NYT isn’t a “pay for play” publication like a gossip mag or page six where you’d have some control over what is written about you! I trust that the journalist wrote an accurate description of her experience. It would probably be best for T and team to reflect on the article without calling the journalist a mean liar.

          1. Much ado about nothing. It was a poorly written, simplistic, immature, catty opinion hit-piece written by an insecure little girl with an obvious agenda. She went there with a negative and biased opinion, and wrote as such, without a shred of objectivity. No integrity there. T’s only mistake was letting that grifter on her property in the first place. Live and learn.

Solid proof you can win a prize and still be a scumbag.

Can’t wait for T’s new cookbook. Love the way she runs circles around that jealous crappy “journalist”.

Might be part of the reason for her smear campaign. 😉

Benny was right. If you have such a petty army of haters, you have indeed already won. 🏆

          2. That article was so cringe-bad. It read like a catty 12 year old’s diary entry about a more well off and popular classmate that she’s insanely jealous of. She tried to make Tieghan look bad, but only outed herself as a petty little brat.

          3. I picked up on the same thing. The “article” read like a tabloid written by someone with sub-par journalistic skills whose only intent from the get-go was to smear. Creepy when you think about it. She spent a year worming her way into their house (and their trust) only to have had ill intent the whole time. Fraternizing with a “contributor” from a known cyberbullying hate group member hardly helped the “writer’s” already non-existent credibility. It wouldn’t be the least bit surprising to find out the hack journalist belongs to that hate group herself. Considering they hide behind anonymity (and cowardice) – it’s probable.

          4. NYT needs to vet their writers a little better. This is an embarrassment to their brand. The fact that they allowed one of their journalists, and I use the term loosely, to mob a young woman entrepreneur, and have the lack of insight to let that drivel see the light of day is not a good look for them at all.

          5. The only people gushing over that article were the hate group members. Everyone else could see it for the tabloid trash that it actually was.

          6. They probably expected the writer to have at least SOME degree of integrity because she wrote for the NYT. Sadly, they were too kind in giving her the benefit of the doubt. She was far from trustworthy, capable, or accurate, unfortunately.

      2. Hey Alyssa! No, nothing like that! I just did not want to make a big deal out of it and draw in even more attention that is all. No legal reasons or anything like that. Thank you so much! xx

  13. Wow, what a wonderful experience! I would definitely agree that you have changed — your confidence has skyrocketed and that shows in your work! I have loved watching HBH evolve, and I can’t wait to see what’s next! Thank you so much for taking the time from your busy schedule to share these beautiful photos with us. France is beautiful, and you look amazing — you’re glowing and totally in your element. Have a safe trip home, and I hope you will share a snap of at least the decor from your brother’s wedding! 💒❤️🥳

    1. Hey Jen,
Thank you so much for reading today and your super kind message:) I love sharing so much with all of my followers! I appreciate you being here for so long and reading each week! Yes, I will definitely try to snap a few photos from the wedding. I hope you have a great Sunday! xT

  14. Oh my gosh! Loving your France travel news. There is just something about France (Italy too)! You look super chic. 🙂 Thanks for sharing.

Who is getting married?! Must have missed that.

    Have a great week. Xx

    1. Hey Kelly-Jane,
