Nine Favorite Things โ I know how to be cozyyy
Happiest Sunday everyone! This week flew by, didnโt it? All and all a pretty good week. Iโve been doing a whole lot of the same this month, cooking during the day, and working on another exciting project at night. Nothing crazy exciting to report. But I do finally have a trip to New York lined up, so thatโs exciting!
I also think weโre going to try and take a trip to Miami sometime in the near future, so of course Iโm looking forward to that! Do you have a favorite Miami hotel? Last year we stayed at The 1 Hotel, South Beach, which we really enjoyed!
I think we all know that I am very particular about my hotels. I love to find THE BEST ones in every city I travel to. I donโt know if Iโve pinpointed an absolute favorite in New York just yet. But I can say that Iโve thoroughly enjoyed my multiple stays at The Park Hyatt New York in Central Park. I know I can always count on an amazing stay and outstanding personalized treatment while I am there.
So what are you all up to? Tell me something fun! Does anyone have any fun trips theyโre planning? How about your weekend, did anyone do anything special? I feel like everyone is beginning to plot their spring vacations.
Things that went on in my world this week: I spent a day baking and turning the kitchen upside down. Fortunately, I created such a delicious recipeโฆthe next day. Yes, it took over 72 hours to nail a simple cookie recipe.
I also made pizzas for the family.ย Then dropped the very last (perfect pepperoni) pizza right on the stone fireplace mantel as I was removing it from the pizza oven. I of course used the 10-second rule and scooped that pizza right up, cheese and all. No pizza left behind! I also spilled a bucket of flaky sea salt, it snowed salt all over my head. I am still picking flakes out of my hair.
And on a high note, I was invited to my first New York fashion week show, I am so excited!
I think thatโs it for today. Some of the family is heading to Aspen on Wednesday for X Games. I donโt think Iโm going to attend this year, the house situation is a little cramped. Asher spent some time organizing all my clothes, so that was a nice bonus!
Have a lovely Sunday! Enjoy another Favoriteโs post!

1. things iโm loving, wanting, and excited to try.
lovingโฆdried roses, as you may have noticed. Iโve been using them in a lot of photos recently. So pretty
wantingโฆfresh flowers. Snowy days need flowers inside. And candles. I love ordering from Farmgirl Flowers. Terrian also has stunning bouquets and tee branches with buds, but they are a bit pricier.
everything in my cart (low)-from Zara, this silk lace bralette is super pretty. A trendy, but affordable shoulder bag is a Zara must-have. We all need a pair or 2 of basic tights. This reversible double faced coat looks designer, and I love these hoop earrings.
listening toโฆLife After Rock Bottom: Arielle Lorre on Addiction. Always enjoy Arielleโs podcast, but her story is even more inspiring.
shoppingโฆJenny Bird jewelry. Such cute pieces at an affordable price. I might order the Sofia Choker. Itโs cute!!
burningโฆTrudon Fir scented candle. I know, I know, this is too much money for a candle, but just smell it. Itโs wonderful, and so much better than youโd expect. But also, I am always burning my beloved Snif candles. This weekโs scent, Instant Karma.
orderingโฆthe UGG Classic Tall II Sheepskin Boots. I mean, I love that these are back in style. So cozy.
dreaming of going toโฆ. Oh, how I would love to attend this. What a dream!
everything in my cart (beauty)โฆthe Dior Capture Totale Le Sรฉrum Anti Aging Serum sounds like a magic serum. And I love the packaging. My Sephora cart currently has 3 shades of the Ami Colรฉ Skin-Enhancing Concealer. How do I find the perfect shade for my skin tone? Iโm loving everything Ilia, their Bright Start Retinol Alternative Brightening Eye Cream is also in my cart. I canโt wait to try this. I have yet to try anything from Selena Gomezโs Rare Beauty collection but I just added the Silky Touch Highlighter to my cart. All four colors are so pretty. I love finishing a fresh face with a sweep of a highlighter. Itโs always so pretty.ย
Also, the Kitsch Back to School Satin Heatless Curling Set. So curious to see if this really works, Iโve been seeing it all over social! Iโve always wanted easy curls.
ย
lovingโฆthis. I love the design of this home. So laid back and relaxing. Plus, the kitchen is perfect.
watchingโฆBreak Point on Netflix. My cousin, Abby is watching this and recommends it.
listening toโฆStart The New Year Organized with the Home Edit. So I never watched the Home Edit on Netflix. Mainly because I never watch any TV except super late at night while editing. But Iโve always followed The Home Edit girls and like the rest of the world, love them. I enjoyed learning more about them and their organizational process!
everything in my cart (high)โฆthese Valentino Wool and Silk Flared Pants are perfect. Theyโd actually be super cute with this very pretty Victoria Beckham Crochet Knit Top. Oh, and this cozy Alpaca Blend Sweater from Frame (adding it to my cart now). This Saint Laurent Sheer Maxi Skirt and long velvet skirt are both gorgeous. These Bottega Veneta drop earrings have been added to my cart so many times. I love them. But for something affordable, the Mejuri Bold Croissant Dรดme Huggies are equally cute.
And lastly, this sweet, girly Alexander McQueen Paris Net Dress is the prettiest. I wish I had somewhere to wear it. Oh, and this fun Brandon Maxwell Liquid Dip Die Gownย too.
ย
orderingโฆturmeric ginger tea from Rishi Tea. To have on hand for anyone feeling a cold coming on.
shoppingโฆfor a new desk lamp! Oddly, Iโm kind of loving this girly pink lamp. Also, I love this curved chair for a work from home office. Need to order!
ย
listening toโฆI just discovered the Everygirl podcast and am looking forward to doing a deep dive into previous episodes. Iโm going to start with Megan Roup on How to Make Workouts More Effective, Body Confidence, and Secrets to Feeling Motivated.
watchingโฆWolf Pack, the teen wolf movie with Sarah Michelle Gellar on Paramount+. So I never watched Teen Wolf, but I (still to this very day), love Buffy. Obviously, I have to watch this. Excited to see Sarah in this type of role again!

4. Favorite questions of the week.
q: where do you get all of your parmesan rinds? Have you used that much cheese?
a:ย Yes. I have used that much cheese! I go through a lot of Parmesan I guess. The rinds are leftover from all of the parmesan cheese we buy.
q: how far into your businessย did you hire (after you and your mom)?ย
a: Our first outside-of-the-family team member we only just hired 2+ years ago. So about 8 years into the business. But my cousin Maggie has worked with us for 3 years and my brother Malachi has almost always worked with us on video content.
q: do you use an app to get organized personally and professionally as well?ย
a: No. But I really should. Any advice? Any apps you recommend?
q: do you consume social media or just use it solely for your job?ย
a: Iโm not big on consuming social. I follow a few select people who really inspire me. And I follow my family. I donโt watch/read much else. I also hit the unfollow button often. If the content doesnโt sit well with me, itโs time to move on. Since itโs the beginning of the year, it might be a good time to do a little social clean. Either mute or unfollow the accounts that arenโt serving you anymore. It helps clear your mind of unnecessary clutter/stress, I swear.
q: do you see yourself ever getting married and having kids? Youโd be the best at both!ย
a: I hope so! But Iโm not in any rush either. Iโm enjoying this time of my life. Iโm hyper-focused on work and learning to make more time for the things/people who are most important to me. I think it will happen when the time is right and Iโm not stressing over it. It will come naturally. Good things happen when you least expect them.
q: I hate all the internet trolls and they break my heart. I hope you donโt let them get you down!ย
a: Me too โฅ๏ธโฅ๏ธโฅ๏ธ but for every troll there are 100 kind people like you!!! And I focus on the positive, ignore the negative. I know who I am and what Iโm about. So do the people closest to me. Iโve learned to accept my flaws and embrace the qualities that make me, ME. Most of the negative comes from people who are unhappy with their own lives. Theyโre looking to bring others down to make themselves feel better. Itโs sad, I wish I could help those people feel happy again.
q: I mean no judgment, but do you come from money? Obviously, your business is successful.ย
a: No. Growing up we definitely didnโt do extravagant things. My mom clipped coupons religiously, we shopped at the cheapest grocery store in town (Marcs) and we never went out to eat. My parents saved to take us skiing, or to visit my grandparents in Florida). We lived an amazing life, I had the best childhood and never felt any stress on money. But I didnโt come from money, which is often assumed. My parents worked insanely hard to support us growing up. Weโve all worked hard to make HBH successful. Nothing was just given, it was all from putting in the hours.
q: what have you learned about yourself this year?ย
a: This has been such a huge growth year both personally and professionally. Iโve learned a lot. The greatest thing I learned is that in order to continue to find creativity, I need to also explore my interests outside of food. Iโve found so much inspiration in allowing myself to enjoy/have fun with fashion again (I always wanted to be a stylist growing up). Iโve also found an unexpected joy in travel, something I used to dread, Iโve loved getting to travel for work. Iโm hoping to do more of both fashion and travel this year. Iโve also learned how to be a better leader to our smaller team. Itโs something I work at daily and am happily continuing to grow into. I love the small team weโre building โฅ๏ธ
Also, positivity and mindset make ALL the difference. Shift your mindset and things change for the better. And BE KIND to everyone.
5. A few random, fun questions for us all.

I thought this would fun! Share your answers in the comments. Also, make sure you read all the comments in this Cup of Joe post, which is where I got this idea!
1. what is a non-expensive thing that makes your life easier?
me: I live by my google calendar, I couldnโt go a day without my notebook for my daily to-do list, and the notes app, which is free! For the kitchen,ย cookie scoops in multiple sizes, kitchen scissors (I use them to cut raw chicken). A dough/bench scraper (to scrap the counters clean).
ย ย ย ย dad: this Cutco spatula. Itโs not non-expensive but considering that weโve had itย ย ย ย ย ย ย for 30 years, it kind of is.
Taylor: I have a subscription to headspace app. It gives me reminders and good vibes throughout the day. I also canโt live without my planner.
McKenzie: I know this is so boring but AQUAPHOR! I have multiple sizes of them and I keep them everywhere! On my nightstand, in my makeup bag, my purse, & I use it on my eyelashes/eyelids at night and my lips throughout the day!
Ellie: protein powder! Sometimes I eat like an astronaut because it makes for the quickest meal! Pro tip: add as topping to all smoothies ๐
2. whatโs your favorite beauty product, tool, or ritual you swear by?
me: I have three. The IS Clinical pro heal serum every morning, the Dr.Dennis Gross red/blue light mask, and dry brushing every night (skin game changer).
mom: a Cutie before bed ๐
ย ย ย ย Asher: Dr. Dennis Gross face mask, love this for treating acne.
Maggie:ย Skinny Confidential Ice Roller it really helps with the tired-mom-puffy-face.
Taylor: I use glycolic pads every night without fail. I have water with lemon first thing when I wake up. Both keep my skin clear.
McKenzie: under eye patches! I love doing my morning skincare and then putting on some soothing under-eye patches while I work. makes me feel like Iโm enjoying a little luxurious thing while also getting things done!
Ellie: Artis beauty brushes are my favorite! They apply product so smoothly, as if it has been airbrushed.
3. best wellness habit you do every single day no matter what?
me: daily movement keeps me happy. I hike every morning, then my morning routine. Drinking so much water throughout the day keeps me going and my skin healthy. Legs up the wall every single night. Plus, podcasts and candles!
mom: a hike, two 3+ minute planks, and this weird exercise move.
ย ย ย ย ย Maggie:ย taking a multi-vitamin every day.
Taylor: I always find some way to move my body. Even if itโs just a quick walk to the beach.
McKenzie: daily movement & listening to a podcast/devotional! makes my body & my mind happy & helps me destress!
Ellie: I keep a bag of chocolate chips nearby ๐ & always go for a morning walk!
4. something fun youโre doing this weekend or coming up?
me: online shopping tonightโฆIโm excited. I need some new tops.
mom:ย heading to Aspen with some fam to watch Red at X Games.
ย ย ย ย Maggie: weโre heading to Aspen too!
Taylor: Spa day to celebrate my GF preserving health issues ๐
McKenzie: my sister and brother-in-law are coming to visit us in Nashville so weโre excited to show them all of our favorite places and things here!
Ellie: I am going on a ski trip to Big Sky in a few weeks with friends. I have never been!
5. what dinner has been on repeat in your kitchen (doesnโt need to be HBH)?
me: Redโs Poke Bowls and dadโs tacos.
mom: We eat what Tieghan makes that day for dinner every night. But my daily breakfast staple is buttered toast โ when Tieghan makes naan thatโs the best! Plus my cacao/hot cocoa every morning and night.
ย ย ย ย Maggie: Penne Alla Vodka from the Super Simple Cookbook.
Taylor: ramen is on repeat for us. Love love all the different things you can add to change it up.
McKenzie: Iโve been making tonsss of soups. So easy to be able to throw everything in a pot and simmer during the day while I work. Then at the end of the day we eat a cozy soup with some warm bread! Special shout-out to the HBH Instant Pot Pesto Zuppa Toscana recipe, that I make on the stove. Iโve made it three times in the past 2 weeks ๐.
Ellie: cozy chicken noodle soup!!

Love this! So whatโs your momโs one weird exercise that she does?
In the kitchen my most used item is my electric tea pot.
For skin I am faithful to Supergoop Glow Screen tinted sunscreen which is the perfect glowing moisturizer.
For atmosphere I always have my Bose bluetooth speakers playing one of my playlists.
Thanks for all the great recipes and your beautiful filming and photography โ you inspire me to give it a go!
Hey Karen,
Thanks so much for reading and sharing your responses to the Cup of Joe questions!! Loved reading your responses:) Have a great week! xx
I love the pics of Oslo. What a cutie! Any chance we could get your momโs hot cocoa recipe? I know she likes a less sweet version and Iโm curious if Iโd like it.
Thanks so much Heather!! Will have to share that recipe soon:) xx
Love that you are going to fashion week!
Also loving section 5. With team and family answers, switches thing up in a fun way!
Not much exciting happening here, but enjoying the light during the days. Xx
Thanks so much Kelly-Jane!! I appreciate you reading this week! Hope all is well:) xT
Fashion Week! Amazing! Iโm totally jealous. Youโll definitely have a place to wear some amazing clothes for that!
Thanks so much Rachel!! Iโm super excited!! Have a great week:) xx
I LOVE to bake and recently moved to CO (7800โ elevation) from TX (35โ โelevationโ). Are your recipes adapted for high altitude baking already? If not, I would love to hear your best high altitude baking tips! ๐ป๐ฉ๐ผโ๐ณ
Hey Kate,
Welcome to Colorado!! You can follow all of my recipes as written without any adjustments. For other recipes, I donโt ever adjust recipes for the altitude. I always cook/bake as if I was at sea level. When baking, I always under-bake by a few minutes and I find this โfixesโ most issues that can be caused from the altitude. I hope this helps! xx
We love The Edition Hotel in South Beach and The Roxy Hotel in Tribeca!
Thanks for your amazing posts!
Thanks so much for sharing Emilie!! I will check these out:) Have a great week! xx
The picture of Oslo with his snowboard, goggles and helmet is so precious. I bet he is having a blast. Thanks for the picture of the Lower Blue. Makes me a little less homesick.
Awe thanks so much Jennifer!! Happy to share:) Have a great week! xT
1) In the kitchenโฆ a microplane and an electric kettle. (Also love my cookie scoops). In the rest of my life: an exacto knife, my carโs electronic key fob, anything that keeps me organized, my magnifying mirror (I am THAT age.)
2) I love Ordinary products. I love being able to target specific issues and the fact their packaging is minimal.
3) Keeping fresh flowers in the house, let the sunshine in, open the doors and windows when the weather permits, and being thankful.
4) Eating lunch at school with my granddaughter who is turning 7, and making her baby-themed birthday cake. She is crazy about babies!
5) Always tacos. The combinations are endless.
Hey Carole,
I appreciate you reading this week and sharing your responses to the questions:) Organization is such an important way to stay sane, IMO, so finding inexpensive ways to do that is great! Ahhh I LOVE having fresh flowers in the house, just something about them! Awe, how fun you get to spend time at school with your granddaughter, how exciting and happy birthday to her! Have a great week! xx
Fun post this week! Hereโs my all-too-wordy response to the questions (ha!):
1. Two things: My Harry Potter Tervis tumbler. I ALWAYS have it with me. I have Sjogrenโs Syndrome, so I drink water pretty much nonstop throughout the day. My bloom daily planners Weekly Magnetic Meal Planning Pad from Amazon. It has a center perf to tear away the grocery list to take to the store. LOVE it.
2. Olay Total Effects Revitalizing Foaming Face Wash every night before bed. My Maybelline Eraser is also fabulous for when you want to leave the house without full makeup, but want to cover up blemishes with a quickness.
3. Tons of water. Not just because of Sjogrenโs and itโs good for you, but because I love it and it makes me feel good.
4. My birthday is tomorrow, so Iโll stop by every place that offers me birthday freebies โ like Starbucks and Nothing Bundt Cakes. The REAL fun isnโt until my trip to Boston in June though. I LOOOOVE Boston.
5. Chili (cuz, ya know, football season), Butternut Squash with Bacon & Parmesan (NYT), HBH Healthier Homemade Crunchwrap Supreme, and HBH Sheet Pan Buffalo Chicken Pizza. Probably having the pizza for my birthday dinner tomorrow night!
Hey Kristie,
Happy Tuesday! Thanks for reading and sharing your responses to the Cup of Joe questions! A good water bottle is key for so many people and water really is just so good for you all around! Happy Birthday!! I hope you have a great day and year ahead! Love a good chili recipe and anything buffalo for game day! xT
Another great blog post. Being a 5 week month January started slow, but seems to be speeding up now haha. Glad youโre enjoy baking and planning new things and trips.
Answers to your questions
1) Scissors โ So useful, I have about 5 pairs in different sizes dotted around the house. Measuring spoons โ I love these and am always using them.
2) For my skin, Charlotte Tilburyโs elixir serum and also her magic cream. These are proving to be really good for my sensitive and currently menopausal skin. I also love OPI nail varnish.
3) Daily skincare routine and I take a multi-vitamin everyday. Daily movement also.
4) This weekend I have started working on some cake design and planning for a cake competition in November and I have also enjoyed a big walk on the seafront and some chill out time.
5) Repeat recipes include your 30 minute spicy Indian butter chicken, Spicy pesto pasta alla vodka and Creamy wild rice chicken soup with roasted mushrooms. Love all these so much.
Have a great week ๐
Hey Colleen,
Happy Tuesday! Thanks so much for reading and answering the questions:) Yes, love a good pair of scissors! Love your daily routines:) How fun, best of luck with your cake competition! Thanks for making so many of my recipes, love to hear you have been enjoying them! xT
