Nine Favorite Things
Happy mid-summer you guys! Weโre halfway through July and as usual, I am not surprised by how quickly the time is flying. To everyone whoโs already talking about the pumpkin spice latte, I love that youโre excited for all things fall, but itโs too damn soon. I stand firm on my thinking that we embrace summer all the way through August. Apples throughout the beautiful month of September. And then overwhelm ourselves with all things pumpkin spice and autumn come October.
We have to pace ourselves people. Live the seasons, donโt rush through them!
Of course, Iโll probably be the first to break my rules. Iโll also say, Iโm certainly looking forward to whatโs to come this fall. Weโre launching something new that I love so deeply โ I cannot wait to share!
Ok, back to today, this week, and July! Weโre deep into these summer days and Iโm yet again feeling excited about more summer travel and upcoming projects. I have a handful of quick work trips that just popped up, so those are always fun!
Iโve definitely been going through a mix of good and bad emotions over the last few weeks. I feel so much excitement, but also have so much frustration, self-doubt, worry, and anxiety all at the same time. But, Iโm really, really trying to live by the mindset of โmind over matterโ and bring a more positive vibe to the table all around. Iโm realizing more and more each day that so much of what you bring into the world reflects on you. How youโre doing internally, both within yourself and in regards to work and your team.
If mentally and physically things are good, everything else is just better, easier, more manageable, and not as much of a โcrisisโ. Iโve lived so much of my life in โcrisisโ mode (as my mom loves to point out to me). When it isnโt actually a crisis. Slowly, Iโm working to change that. I think someone can have a lot of stress and feel a lot of anxiety. But if internally theyโre strong and confident, and mentally they have the tools to work through the negative thoughts, they can deal with their โcrisisโ in a much more positive, and manageable way.
Things that have been helping. Really good podcasts (see what Iโve been listening to below). Fresh flowers (also see below). My candles (get in the habit of burning candles yโall, nothing is better). Osloโs hugs (they melt my cold soul as my dad would tell you). And my morning/nighttime routines (good skincare + legs up the wall every night). And possibly most importantly for me, getting out for a morning hike every day. We have afternoon thunderstorms and rain most days throughout the summer, but the mornings are usually sunny.
Grateful for the sun, I need it!
That was pretty random, but I was just talking with my mom about all of this, then started writing. Maybe youโll find some value from something I said, maybe not, but just a little Sunday self-reflection I guess.

Anyway, some highlights from the week! We had a ton of dark days the week of the 4th. But then Monday was just the prettiest. My younger brother, Red, and his girlfriend, Hailey, were home. And for once I got to spend a little time with just the two of them. Red just purchased an investment home in southern California (the kid is always traveling โ not much time to be in one place). He took some of the furniture that we are replacing in the redesign. He wiped me pretty clean so my house is feeling empty. But Iโm so happy I got to see them. And honestly, they did me a favor by taking the excess furniture.
Even with the darker afternoons, I managed to get a few recipes photographed that Iโm really excited to share this week. Thursday was spent in back-to-back calls, but all of them felt exciting. I really canโt wait for some of the things weโre working on to come to fruition. And lastly, Iโve been talking with my mom about planning another trip before summer ends. Either back to south Florida or going big and heading to somewhere like Tuscany for a week.
Other than that, nothing new. Oh well besides the fact that Oslo just gets cuter by day. If you follow along on Instagram you already know how obsessed I am with him. Heโs just the sweetest.
Lastly, thank you guys for your comments last week. I know the designer pieces I share are not for everyone. But Iโm so happy that most of you are like me and enjoy looking at everything, the high-end and the affordable. It makes me so happy knowing this is a fun post for you all to read. Thatโs my goal at the end of the day, and why I spend most of the week putting these posts together!
Enjoy another round of Sunday favs!

1. Things Iโm loving, wanting, and excited to try.
lovingโฆSet Active. Living in their crewneck right now. I order this crewneck pullover and the sweats. Their tees are soo good too.
lovingโฆsummer peaches. I was sent peaches from Tenerelli Orchids (Peaches LA) in California and you guys, they might just be some of the best peaches Iโve ever had. The first box was softer but so sweet, juicy, and delicious. And the color! So, so, so pretty. Expect lots of peach recipes in the coming weeks.
everything in my cartโฆLOW priced. This Zara raffia bag is 50% off and itโs the perfect beach/pool bag. This satin midi slip dress from Vince is a killer Nordstrom sale find. And lastly, Iโm eyeing this Retro Nuptse quilted down jacket from the North Face for this fall/winter
listening toโฆLauryn & Michael Bosstick on Move with Heart. This episode with Melissa Wood is so good. Learn about routines, working with your partner, and the most important things to remember in life. The episode covers a lot but is so full of little helpful gems of advice and knowledge.
dreaming of going toโฆBora Bora. I saw photos on Instagram this week and it looks like a magical, tropical destination. My dream stay is with the Four Seasons Bora Bora. The property looks stunning.
readingโฆ โA Sense of Appreciation Is the Single Most Sustainable Motivator at Workโ. This isnโt a book, itโs an article, but it really resonated with me. For anyone in a leadership position, itโs a must-read. This is something Iโve struggled with in the past, especially with my mom. Iโm slowly learning that in order to have an excited team that really wants to put in the work, you have to give them a little love too. No, not a little love, a lot of love.
Youโre only as good as your team, so treat them well, appreciate them, and make working together fun. I am no pro and I have bad days all the time, but this is something Iโm learning and working so hard to practice within the HBH team! But even within life. Just appreciate the people around you!

lovingโฆThe Little Market. Been carrying their Raffia East West Tote all week. Itโs super cute and holds so much! Also, I just got a new set of their hand-etched glassware from Mexico. Itโs been my favorite product of theirs for years. I love these glasses and have them in the tall and short sizes. Each purchase supports Rose Ann Hall Designs artisans in Mexico.
Each purchase supports Rose Ann Hall Designs artisans in Mexico.
followingโฆTiffany Howell of Night Palm Interior Design. For interior design inspo.
lovingโฆTriarchy. Love the Josephine cropped denim jacket especially.
orderedโฆPaper Mate Flair Felt Tip Pens. Kind of odd to mention here, but I ordered these a few weeks ago and have been loving them. I use them to write out my day every morning. Love all the colors.ย
shoppingโฆStone and Strand. New to me fine jewelry (with a more affordable price point). So many pretty pieces.
listening toโฆ10 tips for Efficient + Organized Packing on Life with Marianna. These are some very detailed packing tips. Not all are necessary, but I loved listening to this. Marianna is super organized with her packing and gave a lot of really helpful tips/ideas.
shoppingโฆBella Cucina. Really pretty home and kitchen finds.
burningโฆDiiptyque La Droguerie Odor-Removing Candle. This is meant to remove odor from your home. So if you cooked funky food the night prior or are looking to make the boyโs room smell pleasant, try lighting this. I havenโt tested it yet, but itโs on its way.
orderedโฆnew cocktail glasses. I got these fun ripple cups by Sophie Lou Jacobsen on Shopbop. Then from CB2, some pretty double old fashioned glasses. Also, picked up these cute optic glasses in both the smaller tasting glass and the double old fashioned glass. And then lastly, the neat double old fashioned glass. New cocktails are coming soon.ย
followingโฆVinrelle. Following them on Instagram but using their website to rent โborrowโ designer handbags and jewelry. I love this concept for designer pieces that you maybe just want for one event or dinner out. Borrow it, use it, then send it back.
lovingโฆLV Diamonds collection. Wow, wow, wow. These pieces are timeless, elegant, and so pretty. I think my favorite is the V ring.
everything in my cartโฆHIGH priced. I adore this Cholรฉ Maxi Leather Blazer. The color is so good, especially for fall. The Sea Kiara Top would be so cute with sandals over the weekend or with jeans + pumps for dinner out. How pretty is this Gucci 18-karat rose gold diamond ring, Iโd love it. This Cholรฉ knit cropped sweater is the sweetest. Iโd style it with a mini skirt or linen shorts in the summer, then easily transition it into fall with jeans, maxi skirts, and boots.
Surprisingly, I think this sequined midi wrap skirt by Rotate Birger Christensen in pink is so pretty. Iโm not usually someone that would ever pick a pink outfit. This Fendi crossbody bag reminds me of my Nonnie. She had something similar, which only makes me want this more. I love this dainty Alice + Olivia cutout mini dress. Dress it up for dinner and down for daytime. Iโd live in this cozy Ulla Johnson jacket this fall. Also, love the vest in sierra too. And then this Cult Gia crossbody bag is so unique. I think Iโd love it to add an element of fun to a blazer look. This Celinรฉ cardigan is so cute for summer days and nights. I love that itโs hooded. This Versace swim bikini is so cute. I love it for summer days or vacations.
drinkingโฆChamberlain Coffee. Iโve been so presently surprised by this purchase. I have it on subscription. Itโs such a good coffee, I love the Fancy Mousse Espresso blend. Also ordered, the Wild Fox Hazelnut Coffee blendย to try something new.
curious to tryโฆNeom Organics intensive skin treatment candle. Love the idea behind this candle. When the wax is melted, it can also be used on the skin as a moisturizer.
watchingโฆLove & Gelato. Cute if you love a good cheesy, but sweet movie.
Listening toโฆHosting Secrets with Event Planners Stefanie Cove and Neely Shell on Lipstick on the Rim. I am mid-way through this but love it. A must-listen if you enjoy entertaining or are hosting a summer party (big or small), or planning a wedding.
2. Favorite summer peach recipes.

Cinnamon Maple Brown Butter Blackberry Peach Crisp

Pesto Peach Chicken in White Wine with Burrata

Tomato, Peach, and Burrata Salad

Prosciutto Balsamic Peach Chicken with Burrata and Basil

Peach Burrata Crostini with Burst Cherry Tomato Vinaigrette

3. What Iโm loving from CB2.

4. Favorite questions of the week.
q: remind us of your go-to brand for basic tees.
a: I actually just ordered the TNA tee from Aritzia in multiple colors. itโs the perfect basic. Eterne tees are my favorite though. The material is soo soft. They have the best basics in general, but all of their tees are awesome. I wear the baby tee in ivory all the time. Also, Aritzia has a huge selection of colors, sizes, and fits as well. Sorry so much on t-shirts, but I love a good basic tee!!
q: do you have a favorite perfume?
a: Iโve never been into perfume, but I was recently given Phlur and itโs one of the only perfumes I enjoy. I love their Lost Cause scent. I need to try their new apricot scent for summer!
q: whatโs with the legs up the wall? Should we all be doing this?
a: Follow Melissa Wood-Tepperberg for more on this, but it helps increase circulation and reduce the inflammation from being on my legs all day. Itโs also supposed to help with sleep quality.
q: is content creation a lot of work? Curious after hearing your fam say you work a lot (:
a: I mean, yeah for sure. I spend hours, many times days, working on one recipe. Then I have to photograph it, create the video content, create the recipe post for the website, edit the content, write social captions, and all that good stuff. BUT donโt take that the wrong way, I still love it, but yes, itโs a lot of work too. And thereโs so much more that goes into my day-to-day that isnโt just cooking. I cook during the day for the light (I use natural light to film and photograph). This means that nights are filled with everything else: e-mails, posting to social, editing, writing, planning, meetings, etc. Any type of content creation involves a good amount of behind-the-scenes work that people donโt see. Again though, I feel blessed to be able to do what I love and not sit behind a desk all day.
q: whatโs your least favorite thing about having a big family?ย
a: Honestly, I donโt see any downsides. I used to (no one-on-one time with mom, the chaos). But my family is the greatest gift and I realize that more the older I get. I love that I have them and I love that they also drive me insane cause theyโre all crazy ??โโ๏ธ
q: what is a unique or interesting job you had before HBH?
a: When I was 18 and living in LA I worked the phones recruiting new talent at Barbizon Acting and Modeling ? Not all that interesting but it was my only โrealโ job before we started HBH.
q: whatโs the timing of your house/studio project?
a: Weโre hoping itโs going to be finished in the spring/early summer of 2023, so next year.
q: the last thing you do every day is?
a: Post stories + legs up + hopefully dry brush+ shower + skincare.ย The legs up a wall has been a game changer since Iโm truly onย my feet from the second I get out of bed till this point. It helps relieve stress/anxiety, increases circulation, and drains the body of excess fluids.
q: do you have a team helping you at all? How do you do it?ย
a: Yes! my mom has been my business partner with me since day one. I wouldnโt be here without her. Sheโs a powerhouse and manages the backend/business side of the website (among a million other things). Then thereโs Taylor and McKenzie! These two help with customer service type things, social + other odds-and-ends. Margaret works on the blog side helping my mom with upkeep! And Maggie, my cousin, helps with Pinterest and social! Itโs a small team, but we really do it all.
q: do you ever get to a point while cooking a new recipe where you completely abort the idea?
a: All the time. Sometimes Iโll get down to the photos (so the very end) and decide I donโt like the way itโs coming together/looking and I throw in the towel ? Or Iโll take the photos and film the video and then Iโm over it and decide not to share. That actually happened today. Soo many recipes like this just sitting on my phone ?
q: are black pants too gloomy for a summer wedding? Curvier girl here who doesnโt like dresses.
a: I donโt think so! I think itโs better to wear something you feel amazing and confident in versus something that makes you feel uncomfortable. Pants are very in right now, especially a relaxed trouser style! Play up the shoes and carry a cute bag to bring in some style elements. Nothing is more โchicโ than a statement all-black moment!
q: is there anything you refuse to make?
a: I donโt refuse to make anything, and never say never, but Iโm not really interested in making sushi. Iโve made it before, but you know, sushi is just something thatโs better left to the pros. Go out and get yourself some really good sushi. Make poke or sushi bowls at home (:

Hi Tieghan,
I am catching up on these blog posts and this one had two things I loved to comment on all be it a month late. Just like you I love peaches and look forward to them every summer. When I saw those peaches from that farm stand you shared in LA I was so excited!! They must be exceptionally good for that price and from your description I donโt doubt it for a minute. Where do you buy most your peaches from them or do you go to a local farmers market?? Recently, I made the peach cobbler and it was an epic struggle to find peaches that werenโt all rock hard. Iโve never had luck with peaches getting soft that werenโt already ripe when I bought them. Any suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated. Secondly, I am glad to know I am not the only one that sometimes makes recipes and they just donโt turn out. Theyโll taste good but there not worthy of photographing and sharing. My photography of food doesnโt turn out great all that often lots of shadows the light isnโt great etc. I love trying and I get excited to try new things and then photograph them just wish I took better pics. Lastly, I love hearing when you do interviews or do podcasts etc. could listen to them all day. ๐
Hi Mike,
Thanks for reading and your message! I typically order peaches from LA Peaches or The Peach Truck. Thanks for giving the cobbler a try. I appreciate your kind message and following along! I hope you have a great weekend:) xTieghan
You would look FAB in that pink skirt! Italy. Go right before tour season really starts. I was there the entire month of May. It was perfect. I highly recommend you go slow. Donโt rush. Take your time. It is just glorious! This weekly thing-a-rama is my fav! Keep doing YOU! Thank you!
Hi Lisa,
Thank you so much? Oh wow, I bet being there for a whole month was amazing, thanks for sharing!! Hope youโre off to a great Tuesday! xTieghan
Iโm sorry you are having an up and down time. One day at a time, enjoy your summer. ?. Thatโs what Iโm attempting this year too.
Have a great week xx
Thanks so much Kelly-Jane, I appreciate the tip! Hope youโre having a great week! xTieghan
Reading this a day late, however I am on leave this week, so itโs great to enjoy a Monday morning coffee and reading my favourite weekly blog post Nine FT and the photos are beautiful as always. You put a huge amount into these blogs and I love your passion for writing them each week.
I also love peaches and seeing the photo of the cinnamon maple peach crisp, I am definitely making that this week.
Love all your links and recommendations too and this week the one for Chamberlain coffee. I love a good coffee and I like trying new ones. We can get this in the UK, so Iโm going to give it a whirl. Thank you for the recommendation.
The dahlias have started blooming in my garden also, I have five different varieties and all are different colours, they are just so pretty.
Continue to enjoy the summer and I hope that you have a great week ๐
Hi Colleen,
Happy Monday! Thanks so much for reading today! I am so glad you are enjoying these posts as much as I do:) Let me know how the peach crisp turns out, I hope you love it! Love a good coffee, let me know if you give it a try! I hope youโre off to a great week! xx
Please give yourself some grace! I am old enough to be your mother, and I fail miserably at this! You are awesome! You are young! You are so accomplished! I feel gratitude for what you bring to my kitchen! Please give yourself some Grace!
Thanks so much for your thoughtful message Karen, I will keep this in mind:) Thanks for reading and following along! Have a great Monday! xx
I think you mean โChloeโ

? same to you jess
Linda/Anna (obviously the same person) stop trolling and get a life โ preferably someplace far away from here. You bring the negative responses on yourself, but you already know that donโt you?
I like the items you share. Itโs not always my style or price Iโd be willing to spend but Iโve discovered new shops and other things through your links. Plus I prefer someone be genuine with what they like than share the same things from Amazon that Iโve seen all over Instagram.
Looking forward to trying the corn and squash casserole. Got some of both to use up. I also blatantly stole your second photo on this post for my iPad background.
Hi Cara,
Thanks for your comment! Happy to share different links each week and I am glad you have been able to find new sites! Let me know how the corn and zucchini casserole turns out, I hope you love it! LOL glad you enjoyed the photo and are using it as your background! xTieghan
Love your posts, and I totally agree with living in the current day and not in the future. Time moves so fast we all need to slow down and enjoy every day, and the things it brings. Also I need those beautiful etched glasses in my life, sending the link to my family for Christmas gift ideas. LOL
Hi Desiree!
Thanks for reading and sharing your feedback! Yes, time does move sooo fast and so much easier said then done to slow down right?! LOL happy to share the glasses:) I hope you had a great weekend! xx
Do you live at a higher altitude that you have to adjust your baking? I just moved to a location at 5000 feet and hoping you can add high altitude baking instructions you may have to your baking recipes.
Thanks ๐
Hi Dora,
I do live at high altitude, you should be able to follow all of my recipes as written with no adjustments:) Please let me know if you have any other questions! xx
One favorite thing, today reading your post: your bright smile on โlate night dinner with new friendsโ ! Beautifulโฆ..just sayinโฆโฆ.
LOL thanks so much Linda:) I really did have the best time in New York!! Thanks for reading! xx
I look forward to reading your 9 favorite things every week, thank you for being so devoted & sharing! I am curious how you work(ed) through your anxiety. I have a 16 y.o. daughter that has extreme anxiety during the school year, especially when sheโs preparing for tests! She is extremely smart but her confidence plummets when her anxiety is high. Her father & I do not put pressure on her about her grades, itโs all her. We tell her we are proud of her & that she makes better grades than we did! I have tried multiple therapists & FINALLY found someone she likes?? but she still doesnโt take advantage of going very often. You have mentioned you had pretty significant anxiety when you were in H.S. Any tips to share on how to ease this???
If sheโs not taking advantage of her appointments because she doesnโt think she has time or the stigma of seeing a therapist, I wonder if you could sell it as improving her performance by learning coping skills.
Hi!!
I had this happen! I talked to the guidance councillor who was able to make some special changes for me. I got to leave and study in a quiet place at anytime since the councillor told the teachers and they were aware! Honestly, the best thing for me was Jesus, who completely healed this. Iโd listen to worship music and read the Psalms a lot. Thereโs a verse about peace in John 14:27. I also cared a lot about grades, but now I really get how it doesnโt matter as much, you know? I ended up doing poor in a class one year and I think it was a great thing really, because you realize being a great student isnโt the only thing you are. Iโm sorry sheโs dealing with this. There is way too much pressure on kids that age, and I think sometimes itโs just the reality that โeveryoneโ is talking test scores and whatnot so she feels pressure too. But there is far more to life than that, and honestly most of what should be valued isnโt tested in high school, like being patient, abundant in grace, kind and loving and following Jesus. Very vocal about Him because He saved me, and I am grateful to not have anxiety.
Hope this can help you and your daughter. She is not alone and more than that someday she will be a conqueror of anxiety too, a title far greater than straight A student I might add ?
Also just want to say, what a wonderful mom and dad you are not putting pressure on her with grades. Lots of kids I knew did have this, and I canโt imagine how stressful that must be. P.S. maybe once every couple months let her take a extra day off, a wellness day!!
I should have just made one very long comment! ๐ but I relate to her so much and hope I can help. I also wanted to mention, I realized the real reasons I was stressed and I found being present and not dwelling too much on the future helped a lot too. For eg, โwhat if I donโt get a good mark tomorrowโ, โwhat if I canโt get the homework done tonightโ. Not sure if this is similar to her story but pinpointing the things that cause anxiety and avoiding dwelling on those helps too!
Romans 8:37. Cheering you on!! ?
What a fabulous post, chock full of inspiration and GREAT reads! I, too, am all about peaches this season. Especially the Lori Anne peaches from South Carolina that are shipped to my local Wegmans in Virginia. The โlinks Iโm lovingโ list could keep me busy reading all day today, and your sneak peek behind the scenes of what it takes to develop and share recipes is much appreciated. Thank you for all that you do, create, and share!
Hi Deborah,
Thanks a lot for reading and your kind message:) Let me know if you give any of the peach recipes a try, they are one of my favorite summer fruits! LOL it is a long list of links, glad you are enjoying them:) I hope you have a great Monday! xx
Thanks for sharing the photos from NYC, your creative process for content, some self care routine suggestions and items we might like. I love the serving bowls and platters, the white ceramic pitcher and bread basket from cb2. Thanks for pointing those out. Ahhhh, the peaches. . . So delicious!! Thanks for all the wonderful recipes this week and for the reminder about appreciation. Itโs a good space to attempt to stay in. We certainly appreciate you.
Hi Lorena,
Thanks for reading and your comment! Of course, happy to share the photos from NYC! Right?! Those bowls and serving platters are just so easy and classic to me! Let me know if you give any of the peach recipes a try! Have the best week! xTieghan
Waking up on Sunday mornings and reading Nine favourite things over coffee is the best. I can appreciate how much work you put into sharing the recipes, the links and your life lessons. Thanks Tieghan!
**just a tidbit to share, I really enjoy the daily stoic with Ryan Holiday to help with anxiety and feeling overwhelmed.
Hey Janaya,
Thank you so much for your kind message and reading each Sunday:) I will have to look up the daily stoic with Ryan, thanks so much for sharing! Hope youโre off to a great Monday! xTieghan
