Nine Favorite Things.

Weโre now one week into AugustโฆI hope everyone is enjoying these last weeks of summer! It feels like people are off traveling or camping more than ever, and especially this month! Everyone seems to be working hard at soaking up this last full month of lazy summer days!
Since we traveled a bit in July (Mexico and then our Alaska adventure), Iโm home for a couple weeks before heading off to LA at the end of the month. Iโm heading into town mainly for work. But hopefully to look at some areas to possibly find a part time home! Iโm taking a couple days in the middle to go to Palm Springs for the weekend with my family for a little birthday surprise for Asher.
Asherโs birthday is August 30th and sheโs turning the big 13! My mom and I have been trying to think of something fun to do that would be be a little different than the usual. Asher is big on travel and she loves Palm Springs, so weโre using my trip to LA as the perfect excuse for a weekend in Palm Springs to celebrate. It should be really fun!
Along those lines, Iโm a little stumped on just what to get her this year. Sheโs currently eyeing designer hand bagsโฆand yes, itโs all my fault.
Question: Any suggestions on cool birthday gifts for a 13 year old?
Moving along, this week was tricky. I had some โhateโ things happen on Instagram that were a lot to deal with for a couple days. Instead of dwelling on the negatives though, which I can tend to do, Iโm instead focusing on three exciting things that happened this week!
First and most exciting, we finally made the decision to hire an interior designer to help up finish both the studio barn and my personal home. After years of trying to get it done ourselves (and just not having enough time), Iโm so excited to finally be making moves in the right direction. This hopefully means a reveal for both spaces is coming soon! Iโm sharing some design inspo below! Fingers crossed we can really get things done this time around!
Second exciting thing, well this actually happened before I left for Alaska, but I finally finished a huge project that Iโve been working on for over a year. I was way, way, past the final due date with this project. It felt so good to head to Alaska knowing I had gotten the hardest parts done. Thereโs still a little more to do, but Iโm happy to have the big portions completed โ and in. More on this project coming this fall!
And finally, the weather! For about four days straight it stormed and stormed here with super dark days that made capturing photos and video content incredibly hard. Thankfully, the sun peaked out Thursday afternoon and itโs looking like itโs here to stay for the next ten days. So happy about this! I just love a sunny Colorado summer day. Iโm not sure what it is about them, but Iโm so much more productive when itโs happy and sunny out!
Question: what are your plans for the remainder of August before all the craziness of September hits?
Letโs see, what else?! My younger brother Red and his longtime girlfriend, Hailey, made it here yesterday. They drove in from Lake Tahoe and are in town for a week or so. I love these two, so Iโm excited to have them around. Weโre going to celebrate Haileyโs 21st birthday sometime this week with a little dinner. I needย to think up a fun menu for her. Sheโll eat and try anything, so sheโs really fun to cook for!
Coming up this weekโฆ A new summer pasta thatโs Asherโs personal favorite. An insanely delicious ice cream cake that Iโm so excited to share. A hearty new summer salad. And that fun cocktail I mentioned last week is finally coming your way!
watchingโฆJared & Genevieve Padaleckiโs Family Farmhouse. Love, love the coziness of their home. Their kitchen and garden are a dream.
drinkingโฆcoffee mixed with Laird Superfood Performance Mushroom Powder. My brother Kai actually turned me onto this. Heโs been putting it in his coffee for extra nutrients and says he really enjoys it. You donโt taste the mushrooms at all. Itโs a blend of Chaga, Cordyceps, Lionโs Mane and Maitake mushrooms. All of which have huge health benfits, like increased focus and everyday energy levels.
lovingโฆJenni Kayneโs Los Angelas home. I love the simplicity of this home, but yet the architecture and design elements are all so interesting and stunning. And the backyard is perfect.

lovingโฆthese Boll & Branch linen sheets. Iโve been using these on my bed all summer and theyโre so light and breathable. Great for summer nights. Also, Boll & Branch is having a summer sale starting tomorrow. But, if you head to their site and use my special code Tieghan20 it will give you early access. Youโll receive to 20% off your order, plus, youโll have first choice of their entire stock! This isnโt available anywhere else. So you can use this opportunity to get the items you want todayโฆfor lessโฆand before others have access!!
listening toโฆMarianna Hewitt & Lauren Gores on the Skinny Confidential. My favorite podcast of the week. They talk tactics for success as creators, founders, and entrepreneurs.
readingโฆByrdie. So many incredibly beauty articles. I canโt believe Iโm just discovering this site.

emptied and re-orderingโฆthe Augustinus Bader cleansing balm, Is Clinical pro healing serum, Tatcha the dewy skin cream, and Mutha body butter. You know their good products when you wipe them dry and then re-order.
dreaming of going toโฆCapri Palace in the south of Franceโฆoops a reader just pointed out that itโs actually in Italy (thank you!). What a stunning hotel! The south of Franceโฆand Italyโฆare high on my travel list. Have you ever been? We all need to go!
lovingโฆthe Kate Mcleod dry brush and body stone. I have the driest skin, especially when I am home in Colorado. I recently started using the Kate Mcleod set and have loved the way my skin feels. It takes a little extra time at night, but itโs worth it. Plus dry brushing is said to help with cellulite too!
watchingโฆOuter Banks on Netflix via my cousin Abbyโs recommendation. And then my parents are watching Virgin River. Have you seen either? Anything new you love?
lovingโฆย Tenerelli Orchardsย peaches (located outside LA) and then also, the Hood River Cherries. Some of the best two pieces of fruit Iโve eaten all summer. Lots of peach and cherry recipes coming soon!
orderedโฆthese camisโฆin burnt clay and black.
listening toโฆMonica Padman on The Lady Gang. If you listen to podcasts, you probably know Monica Padman from Armchair Expert. I loved getting to hear her be interviewed for a change. Learning more about her personal story in such a fun, laid back setting was great.
orderedโฆthese pretty Williams Sonoma Glow Tumblers. Future cocktails to come!
lovingโฆthese fun rain boots Mom and Asher bought in AlaskaโฆAsherโs boots (in yellowโฆso Gillmore Girls!), momโs boots (she bought the mens size 7 in navy/red). Iโm thinking of joining them and buying these!

q: If you could have a dog, what kind would it be and why?
a: Well I love an Alaskan malamute, but know theyโre also a lot of workโฆbut Iโd still really like one! If not a malamute, then a golden retriever for sure! I just love bigger dogs, they feel more protective and friend-like to me.
q: What do you buy in bulk/consistently have on hand?
a: We buy so much in bulk. Either from Amazon, Thrive Market, or the grocery store when something is on sale. All of our baking supplies, olive oil, nuts/seeds, pasta, sauces. Anything that has a shelf life and that I regularly use we try to buy in bulk.
q: Have you ever tried painting? Like watercolors of some of your flower images?
a: Not since I was in middle school! I love to do anything crafty like painting, but not going to lie, Iโm not a very good drawer/painterโฆunless itโs in say, a coloring book ??โโ๏ธ But I do have fun doing both!
q: What are your favorite jean brands?
a: I love Re/Done, Agolde, and Slvrlake ? And Levis!
q: What is your favorite thing about yourself?
a: This is super hard because Iโm really, really hard on myself. BUT I do love my drive and determination. I donโt ever take no for answerโฆbut at the same time it can get me in trouble because I donโt easily โturn offโ.
q: Best place to stay in Colorado during the summer? And also, must sees, doโs, and eats?
a: Colorado is soo pretty in the summer, but also very, very stormy. itโs been storming here for that last week, so I always say to come in late August or September. Itโs always so beautiful then. Our leaves usually change that second or third week of September and itโs sooo pretty with full on sunshine ? ?
As far as towns, there are so many cute ones to explore. Aspen is always amazing. We all loving going there, and we love staying at The Little Nell! Then of course, thereโs Breckenridge, and Steamboat too. Iโve never been, but my mom loves Telluride. Oh, and Crested Butte is the cutest little mountain town. My brother, Brendan, went to high school there. Super small but cute!ย ย
q: How do you handle negative feedback about your recipes?
a: If itโs legit feedback and something I can fix to make the recipe better/work more efficiently for people, I always adjust the recipe. If someone is clearly just hating on the recipe I ignore it and move on. People can be mean, especially on the internet, and I will not lie, some days it really affects me. But I try my best to let it roll of my shoulders and remember that whoever is having such an issue (and not being kind) is probably in a prettyย bad place in their life. I always try to reply back with a respectful and kind comment, youโve got to kill them with kindness.
q: Your favorite flower?
a: I have so many and it really changes with each season, but I think I love lilacs the most. I wish they bloomed longer!
q: What should I wear on a first date when itโs so hot?
a: I feel like you can never go wrong with a casual linen dress/little white dress plus a cute pair of slides. Add a fun bag to dress it up or down.
q: How did your parents meet?
a: High school!! They started dating the summer after my momโs freshman year and my dadโs senior year.
q: Whatโs something random that makes you insanely happy?
a: fresh flowers and a sunny day, or a sunrise/sunset.
q: Where did you grow up/go to high school?
a: Rocky River, Ohioโฆas did my parents!
q: Is there a healthy food you hate?
a: straight green tea makes me gag ??โโ๏ธ
M. Elle Design โ based in Pacific Palisades, CA and run by sisters Marie Turner Carson and Emily Turner Barker. Their esthetics embrace the mood of a home, balancing elegance with comfort and livability. Also, I just love that this is a sister business. Nothing like sisters.
Vincent Van Duysen โ the designer and architect behind that stunning Jenni Kayne home I talked about above. His simple and minimalist designs have a way of capturing your eye. He plays with light and mood of every space in such a stunning and creative way.
Clements Design โ I especially love the outdoor spaces this duo has created. They have a nice balance of mixing simplicity with bold designs.
Atelier AM โ vintage and country french vibes mixed with elegance. I love the attention to small details.
Jersey Ice Cream Co โ Iโve followed these guys for years, but I just love the look of their french county side and vintage style designs.
Studio Lifestyle โ a design firm with multiple designers, theyโre a fun account to follow for different styles and inspiration.
If youโre looking for design inspiration in general, follow the account All Sorts Of run by the Amber Interiors team. Theyโll often highlight designers both big and small, so it is a great resource for inspiration.
Same with The Expert. And then of course, Architectural Digest (they just shared this shower and itโs exactly what I want).
question: who do you love to follow for design inspiration? Anyone local to Colorado?

Thanks so much for your kind message Holly! I do not have any plans to start a restaurant:) xTieghan
Thanks so much for the link and 20% off to Boll and Branch! Iโve wanted to try them and now is the perfect time so I just ordered some. As for the haters, please donโt even think of them, they are just plain sad. I like that you treat them with kindness, it will always win. Oh and the photos of Colorado are gorgeous.
Hey Nancy,
Of course, happy to share! Thank you so much for your kind message and reading along:) xTieghan
