Thanks for joining me for another Nine Favorite Things post.
I know I say this often, but the first line of the post is always the hardest. I never know just how to jump into things. So, letโs start withโฆI hope youโre all having a great weekend so far! And, Happy Super Bowl Sunday! Are you watching the game? Tuning in solely for the halftime show? Cooking your favorite game day recipes? Or just having a regular chill Sunday night?
Iโm sure my family is watching the game, but I will most likely be hanging at home, catching up on emails before the start of the week. It might not be the best thing for me to do, but I love to set aside time on Sunday night to get through emails, respond to any comments I may have missed throughout the week, and get set up a bit for the week ahead. For me, itโs always nice to start Monday morning knowing I took care of all the lingering emails and tasks the night before. A fresh start to the week!
Question: What are your Sunday routines? Do you do family dinners? Are you a self-care bubble bath kind of Sunday nighter? Or do you binge your favorite shows?
Thank you all for your sweet words of encouragement last week!! I know we all have good and bad days/weeks. Iโm really glad so many of you could relate to what I was feeling! This week brought new light however and even more exciting projectsโฆthat may or may not happen. I have a good feeling about things and am just feeling excited in general. Honestly, I think the snow falling is helping, it feels warm and cozy. The snow brings all the good vibes as I stand here huddled next to my pizza oven typing away.
I spent some time this week working on a few projects that Iโm really excited to share with you guys this spring. I know itโs annoying that Iโm not giving details, but hopefully, soon, I can share more. Does anyone want to take a guess as to what could be coming this spring?
Here is a hint, itโs not something Iโve ever done before, sooo that means itโs definitely not a cookbook.
Iโve also been on the hunt for a dress for my cousinโs wedding in March. Theyโre having a small ceremony in Julian, CA at Sacred Mountain at the end of March. We are all very much looking forward to it. Personally, Iโm just excited to have an opportunity to wear a cute outfit. I really want something simple, long, and with long sleeves too. Iโm told it can be chilly in Julian at that time of year, so Iโm not taking any chances. Iโm always cold.
And lastly, Instagram just reminded me thatโs itโs been three years since my family and I piled ourselves onto a plane to make a fourteen plus hour flight on our way to South Korea. Eighteen of us gathered to watch my younger brother Red compete in the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang. And then go on to win just a few short days later. Do you guys remember when we traveled there? When life was normal and exciting?! I know weโre all in the same boat, but man I do miss the โnormalโ days.
How crazy is it that it has been a full three years since then? And even crazier that weโre coming up on yet another Olympic year? I have to say, Iโm still so proud of Red and how much heโs grown the last three years. Truth is, he was literally just a baby when he won, but he was quickly forced into adulthood and has handled himself incredibly well. Heโs stayed that same happy, loving kid Iโve known, but has a maturity to him that most people donโt have until they enter their thirties. But at the same time? Heโs still just a twenty-year-old kid and he always manages to bring a smile to my face. And sucker me into making him whatever he wantsโฆeven on my hardest, busiest days. Just got to love him!
Since some of you are newer, hereโs a look back at my favorite photos from our time in Korea. Itโs especially fun to relive these memories since itโs difficult to travel to faraway places right now. Hope you guys enjoy them!!

Coming up this weekโฆ Weโll be starting the week off with a healthy chicken dinner thatโs Greek-inspired, warming, and so delicious. Come Tuesday, weโll moving onto something sweet to bake up mid-weekโฆbecause I love a random Tuesday night baking session. Especially during the dead of winter. For Wednesday weโve got a fun Mexican dinner at home. Then on to a simple pasta bake to keep Thursday night easy and light. For Friday, Iโm really feeling like some kind of cookie, but itโs undecided at the moment. Valentineโs Day is Sunday, so maybe Iโll switch things up and create a sweet treat for two!

followingโฆMelissa Wood Health. For her yoga flows, but also, Iโve come to love her positive energy, itโs infectious.
lovingโฆthe Augustinus Badar Hand Treatment Cream. I canโt remember if I told you about this before or not, but I donโt think Iโve come across a better working hand cream. I have the driest, driest hands, and this has truly worked magic on them. Their body butter is awesome too. Both are splurge items, but worth it in my mind.
orderedโฆthis set from & Other Stories looks super cozy too. All the cozy clothes these days!
thinking about orderingโฆthe Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balm. Does anyone have this? I have heard such incredible things!

q: How long after you started HBH did you start your business/making money?
a: We saw growth within the first year of HBH. But Iโm not kidding I was working 24/7 at itโฆand to be honest, I still am. That was 8 1/2 years ago though, so it was a very different time. Blogs were just starting to pick up momentum. We started making money after that first year and then it slowly grew year by year.
q: How can I make everyday meals feel more exciting?
a: Itโs all about the toppings and or sauces. Add fresh herbs for color and flavor, a bread crumb toppingย for a nice crunch, or a good sauce (I love a good sauce). You will instantly upgrade whatever youโre serving.
q: Whatโs your favorite charity to support?
a: Right now, itโs Special Angels! This is the adoption agency my parents went through to adopt my brother, Oslo.
q: Where are you from/where do you live now? You have a bit of an accent.
a: Sometimes people say I have an accent and I donโt get it! Iโm originally from Cleveland, OH. My family moved to Colorado when I was in 8th grade. Do you guys think I have an accent?
q: What part of cooking do you hate?
a: I do it ALL the time, but I hate searing. The stove is always such a mess after. But a good seared veggie or meat is worth it.
q: What was your photography like when you started HBH?
a: It was bad!ย If you want to see more, just scroll through the HBH archives and go back to 2012. Youโll seeโฆI wasnโt always good at photography.
q: Does someone help you clean?ย
a: Yes! My dad actually! He started helping me way back in the day when I was still living at home and then he just never stopped. So usually heโll come to the studio at the end of the day and we bang it out together. Both my mom and dad are a big part of HBH. My mom manages the backend and upkeep of the blog along with so many other things. My dad does the โshitโ work. Lol. Didnโt intent for HBH to be such a family business, but itโs sure working out to be that way!
By now you guys all know that my candle obsession is no joke. At this point, Iโm burning through a candle a week. I just love them so much. Lighting them every night is something I look forward to all day. Something about striking the matchstick and lighting the candle is so relaxing to me.
Anyway, some of the candles I love most are in the prettiest vessels. Once the candle has fully burned, I always feel bad just tossing out the empty candle jar. Over the summer, I started to reuse the prettier jars as flower vases. My trick for getting the wax easily and cleanly out of the glass jars?
Freeze the jar overnightโฆthe wax shrinks and pops right out. Just place the spent candle in the freezer overnight. Then in the morning, I run a butter knife around the edge of the wax and it pops right out. So simple, easy, and mess-free.
When it comes to meat, Iโve always had really high standards as to what I will cook and feed my family. Since I started cooking for the family, high-quality beef has been a huge focus within my cooking. But living in a little ski town can sometimes make sourcing high-quality meat difficult. Thankfully, we do have a Whole Foods now, but if itโs the busy seasonโฆaka ski season, it can be hit or miss. When my family discovered Carter Country Meats this past year, It was such a welcome and needed discovery. My older brothers know the family, so my mom reached out inquiring about sourcing some meat. Once they shipped the first box out, I was immediately sold. The quality of their meats is incomparable.
The cattle on Carter Ranch are all grass-fed, and hormone and antibiotic-free. But the biggest difference between Carter Ranch and others? They only harvest older animals between the ages of four to fourteen. Like a fine wine, their beef gets better with age. Their cattle spend the duration of their lives roaming their forty thousand acres on some of the finest natural rangeland in the world. This cycle ensures that Carterโs beef has a profoundly distilled flavor profile. They also practice regenerative agriculture โ farming and grazing practices that, among other benefits, reverse climate change.
We asked the Carter Family if theyโd provide you guys with a discount so you could give Carter Country Meats a try. Theyโre graciously offering the HBH family 20% off their entire site. Just the code HBH20 when checking out. Check out some cool pics on their Instagram here!

I absolutely loved reading your Nine Favorite Things post! I can totally relate to starting the week by getting through emails on Sunday night; itโs a ritual that really helps me feel organized and ready to tackle Monday. The cozy image of you by the pizza oven during the snowfall made me smileโI find that the winter season often sparks my creativity and excitement for new projects, just as it does for you. Iโm also looking forward to hearing more about your mysterious spring project; the hint that itโs something completely new (not a cookbook) has me intrigued! Your plans for your cousinโs wedding sound wonderful, especially choosing an outfit mindful of the chilly Julian weatherโI commend your foresight, as I too am always cold! And your trip to watch your brother compete in the 2018 Winter Olympics brought back memories of how precious those โnormalโ times are. It reminded me to cherish moments of togetherness and excitement amidst lifeโs ups and downs. Thank you for sharing such heartfelt thoughts; your post felt very genuine and uplifting!
Hello! About the accentโฆ you probably have what I looked up to find is calledโฆ the Inland North or Cleveland/ Akron accent! I am from NE Ohio and, yes, I have it! Didnโt know it until my two teens pointed it out. A nasal A sound especially! I hear it in myself as I say certain words with an Aโฆ like Bath, nap, Dale, โฆ
I hear it loud and clear in some of my family members who still live in Ohio!
My teens, husband , and I get a kick out of my twang that only comes out in certain words! And this is after 30 years of living away from Ohio on the Easter Shore of Maryland!?
I look forward to checking your post everyday! We enjoy many of your recipes!
Hey Valerie,
Lol, wow! Thanks for sharing all of this, makes total sense! Thanks for reading along too! xTieghan
Love reading your nine favourite things and checking out the products you mention. Love the cropped Henley!
What I enjoyed most was learning that your brother is an Olympian! A Gold Medalist at that. I had no idea. I am not American and relatively new to your site, so this was exciting for me to read.
As for what the new project you are currently working onโฆ.my guess is a tv show. ๐
S.
Hey Silvana,
Thanks so much for reading along! Love the guess:) Have a great week! xTieghan
I need this garlic press too, amazing! My guess for whatโs coming this Spring: HBH Dishware Line!
Lol thanks Erin!! xTieghan
Yes you need a garlic press! You can use it for ginger too. I use mine all the time.
Thanks so much Kathy! xTieghan
Hi Tieghan. You work so hard and clearly care so much that I hesitate to post this but do not know how else to reach you. You deserve all of your success and it is exciting to see the growth of your endeavors. Please though be mindful that so many people are without jobs now and are really struggling. Posting items like $85 candles, $300 sweaters, $230 earrings, etc week after week in the Nine Favorite Things posts is challenging for many to see. Not reading the posts to avoid that would be missing out on your other great content. Please understand that I mean this as a sensitive suggestion to consider. Thank you so much for sharing your creativity with us and for being open to feedback.
Hey Sue,
Thanks so much for reading along and sharing your feedback:) I will absolutely take this into consideration and try to be more considerate when sharing links. I really love Zara and H&M as more affordable options! xTieghan
Love to see your pictures of previous travels. I started following in October 2019, and have been a regular since, but itโs lovely to see things from before I joined ?
Not a cookbook, something newโฆ dinnerware? HBH STAUB colab? Looking forward to it, whatever it may be!
Have a good week. Xx
Hey Kelly-Jane,
Thanks so much for following along, so glad you have been enjoying past photos. Love the ideas! xTieghan
Iโm a day late reading Nine Favourite Things this week, however what a super blog post. I really loved reading and seeing photos from your trip to support your brother at the 2018 Olympics. Will your brother be competing in the next winter Olympics?
My Sunday routine: Especially in winter I like to make a breakfast treat for my partner and I. This weekend I made sticky lemon rolls with lemon cream cheese topping. I am also a Sunday evening bubble bath gal, itโs so nice to have a soak.
My guess to your spring plans: I am going to guess that instead of Instagram videos on how to make your fabulous recipes, youโve going to launch via FB a weekly video, where we can all log in and join you for the live, and comment/ask questions in chat, maybe? This would be such a fun thing and Iโm sure that youโd have a great HBH community there too.
In respect of the Summer Fridays lip butter, I have not tried it, however as someone who suffers from dry lips I am always on the hunt for a good quality lip balm/butter and if this one has received good reviews, then I think that I might give it a try. Thank you for another great blog and wishing you a good week ๐ x
Hey Colleen,
Thanks so much for reading along!! Yes, we sure hope to be at the next Olympics:) Love your Sunday routine, sounds so amazing! Love this idea for the project:) Stay tuned!! xTieghan
Highly recommend the Summer Fridayโs lip balm and Gwynethโs Boucle chair. Have both and obsessed. We have the same likes it seems. Been doing Melissa Wood Health workouts for awhile and she exudes radiance. Thanks for posting Gigi Hamid videos,,,they were great and she is so real. And wow Tom Brady and Giseleโs homeโฆ.stunning. Speaking of, excited Tampa Bay and Tom Brady won Super Bowl tonight. I look forward to all your recipes and Nine Favorite Things every week. Made your Lemon Chicken orzo the other nightโฆamazing and your Giant Chocolate Chip cookies are a crowd pleaser for sure. Thank you!
Hey Kellsey,
Thanks so much for the lip balm recommendation! Thanks for trying so many recipes and reading along:) xTieghan
Another fun read, thank you! I Stumbled on your site last fall when I was searching for a popover recipe and Iโm so glad I found you! Iโm loving all the new ingredients Iโve been cooking with, and I appreciate the versatility of your recipes. My favorite thing about your recipes is that I know the dish will be FULL OF FLAVOR !! Thank you for making cooking fun again!
Hey Nina,
Thanks a lot for reading along! I am so glad you and your family have been enjoying the recipes and I truly appreciate you making them! xTieghan
