(I made my 6 ingredientย tomato soup!)

Welcome back to yet another summer Sunday favorites post. We may only have a few weeks of summer left before fall sets in, but Iโ€™m soaking up these remaining dog days of summer. Well, at least thatโ€™s what Iโ€™m trying to do. Itโ€™s been challenging to keep my head above water later. Especially with the release of HBH Super Simple this October. But slowly and surely I am learning something new every dayโ€ฆIโ€™m trying my hardest to work โ€œsmarter, not harderโ€.

Have you guys heard that one before?

Iโ€™ve listened to some of the people who I look up to most in the business world give this advice. I know itโ€™s something I need to work to strive for every single day. Sometimes I do things the hard way, the long way, and the not smart way. Right now my biggest focus is learning to work smarter and not harder. This means hiring help, trying to build out an incredible HBH team, planning ahead, not being such a perfectionist all the dang time, not stressing out over the little things, not overthinking every single move I make, and just pushing forward. Let me tell you, itโ€™s HARD. But when I start second-guessing myself, or working on a task that is not worth my time, or just plain being way too much of a perfectionist, I stop and say, work smarter, not harder.

Seems like such a simple thing to do, right? Iโ€™ve found it to be super helpful just to pause and reevaluate what Iโ€™m doing in the moment. It helps to redirect my thoughts and in-turn work smarter! No real reason in sharing this other than itโ€™s what Iโ€™m currently thinking and working on!

If you guys have any tips for me, let me know. I truly love hearing your thoughts and ideas!

In other news, this week was all over the place. New recipes are coming, fall planning is in full force, and Iโ€™ve been working on bonus material and events for the cookbookโ€™s release. Iโ€™m so excited for the months ahead!!

Coming up this week on HBH, weโ€™ll be sharing a new instant pot recipe thatโ€™s great for summer, but even better for the busy fall nights ahead. Weโ€™ve got something sweet and cheesy switching things up on Tuesday. A new go-to skillet salmon that takes minutes to make. A delicious one-pot meal thatโ€™s perfect for using up the summer corn. And weโ€™ll be ending the week on a very sweet and buttery note. I couldnโ€™t be more excited to share!

Lastly, if you missed anything from the past week, be sure to sign up for our newsletterย here. Hope youโ€™re all having the best weekend, soaking up the end of summer sunshine. And of course, enjoying this Sundayโ€™s Nine Favorite Things!

1. Inspiring Me on Pinterest.

Question: what inspired you this week?

2. Catching up on Instagramโ€ฆand Other Things.

I know so many of you who read HBH daily also follow along on Instagram, but I wanted to do a quick update on everything Iโ€™ve been sharing on IG. Instagram has really become the space where I am able to easily share new recipes, how-to videos, behind the scenes actions, and so much more! I LOVE interacting and talking with you all through comments and DMโ€™s. I know I say this often, but itโ€™s my FAVORITE.

So, Instagram stories. I have been sharing so much on my stories lately. A few recipe highlights includeโ€ฆ

The ever so popular blueberry basque cheese, which I have now made sooo many times. Itโ€™s just so easy and a real show-stopper!

I made the jammy cherry tomato pasta with crispy rosemary lemon chickpeas and gave you all my secrets for getting EXTRA crisp chickpeas.

I baked up this easy, healthyโ€ฆish sneaky zucchini chocolate chunk coconut bread. Itโ€™s a favorite, and certainly, a great way to rid yourself of any extra zucchini you may have.

And finally, my heirloom tomato cheddar tart with everything spice. I make this every year. Obsessed with this recipe.

Make sure you are following along on stories. Most of the recipes Iโ€™ve been sharing, I also make step-by-step on my Stories. I made the healthy coconut tart this past Friday, and also my favorite tomato soup. Itโ€™s so much fun to cook with you guys and I love that IG stories easily allows me to do so.

Other recent stories have included videos and photos like the ones belowโ€ฆ

    1. Hi Mary! Just hover your mousse over the โ€œrecipesโ€ tab at the top of the HBH page. A drop down tab will then appear that saysโ€™ โ€œrecipe boxโ€. Click that! Please let me know if you have any other questions. Thank you! xTieghan

  1. For HBH Presents, my guest suggestion is Sammy Moniz (@sammymoniz) from @FeedingTheFrasers . Other content suggestions would be: decorating for fall and/or Halloween and something locally grown and fall/colder weather vegetable recipes. When you are ready for fall that is!

  2. One thing that helps me when Iโ€™m feeling overwhelmed and like everything needs to be perfect is reminding myself that โ€œdone is better than perfect.โ€

  3. Enough with the vintage wood. That cabinet would look cool with a handpainted background that resembled moroccan tile.

  4. You have fabulous whole heart recipes, love your site and your photographs are beautiful. Please add me if you send out emails.

    1. Hi Joan! You can add yourself to the email list on the homepage of my website! It is at the bottom right. Please let me know if you need any assistance or have any questions! xTieghan

  5. I really look foreward to reading your favorite things each week.It is fun seeing a slice of your world. Beautiful pictures and great inspiration for things to try during the week. Now I am torn between the two meatball one you posted, which one first!

  6. When I was teaching, I seemed to constantly be using the โ€œwork smarter, not harderโ€ manta with my student teachers. I always felt that the first thing they needed to learn was how to teach a concept or present a lesson in a way that would reach all the various learning styles. I always encouraged them to stop and think about the big picture before going about the work of organizing for a lessonโ€ฆwhat do you want to accomplish and what would be the most efficient way to do that.
I remember one young woman telling me she spent hours cutting out some item that she ended up using for less than a minutes during the lesson. Clearly, she did not internalize the smarter not harder way of thinking.
I honestly use the โ€œsmarter not harderโ€ way of thinking in just about every task I tackle in my everyday life. It really works.

    1. I agree! I really admire that you teach that to people who look up to you.. that is so amazing! Thank you so much Nancy! xTieghan

  7. Such informative post today, so many new projects, so exciting for the fall ( and sad for summer, I donโ€™t want it to end.. summer went too fast!). Love all the new projects that you are doing, and that โ€œsave the recipeโ€ idea just genius! For couple of weeks Iโ€™ve been thinking that you need to dedicate a day where you go back and remind us of al the recipes that you have out there. I know that you do that sometimes, but I think it should be on the weekly baseโ€“ you create so much and I never go back..
Also, you asked about who you should team up with.. Do you happen to know Danielle Walker from Against All Grain? She is another blogger who I follow religiously and have all the cookbooks from, she has a series โ€œFeeding Friendshipsโ€. Maybe you guys can get together? I Love you BOTH so much!

  8. Iโ€™m focused on getting out of debt so havenโ€™t read Nine Favorite Things in ages because you post such tempting things.

Maybe you could use the giant vase to make a batch of sauerkraut or kombicha, or play hide and seek with your sister and hide in it?

Iโ€™d love to see more recipes without cheese. Iโ€™m trying to consume less dairy and eggs, which can be difficult with all your lovely cheesy recipes.

I like cheese on my salads and am cutting it out but looking for tasty options to add.

Why yes, I am clicking on Amazon because I need to eat so I need to cookโ€ฆ

  9. I adore looking at other peoples kitchens and thereโ€™s not enough of that online but this article did not answer any of the questions I had ?! It was just pictures ?!

  10. Thanks for sharing this Teighan โ€“ work smarter not harder, is easier said than done! I can imagine how a lot of times you really cant give up your obsession with planning everything and being perfect, which is why I also get a lot of anxiety. But slowly I am realising over time, how it really IS okay to just let things be sometimes. Have been listening to many podcasts and reading some anxiety related articles lately which is a bit helpful. Rest of the time, I just take a small break from blogging and computer time and rather try recipes from other bloggers โ€“ I posted the entire tutorial for your amazing recipe for street corn and avocado โ€œmayoโ€ and got so many readers asking me about it. Of course I had tagged you in every post thanking you for the genius recipe but it just made me so happy! Your recipes are so different and they work out every time. Keep up the good work and never stop inspiring us.

    1. I am so glad you posted that, thank you! It is such a great idea to take some time off and try other peoples recipes! Thank you so much Sheenam! xTieghan
