30 Minute Chili Honey Garlic Salmon Bowls. Crispy salmon tossed in a spicy-sweet honey garlic sauce. Serve this dish with asparagus, broccoli, or a combination cooked up right alongside the salmon. It’s the easiest sheet pan dinner. Add a side of rice and a creamy special sauce. This tasty family dinner is great any night of the week and can be made in under an hour!

I love creating bowl-style recipes – ideally served over rice! I have countless recipes ending with the word bowl on this site. They truly are some of our family favorites.

This salmon included.

I made this a few weeks ago, and while I can’t remember exactly what inspired it, I knew I made it with my dad and Oslo in mind. They love spicy salmon (and tuna – Oslo’s favorite!). They don’t often get served fish at home, so I was feeling excited to share this!

When my family comes home from travel or we have out-of-town guests, I love to make dishes that I know they’ll love and get comfort from eating.

Travel always takes a toll. Nothing is more welcoming than a great home-cooked meal! This was the perfect thing to serve after a week of being away. Everyone loved it, especially Dad and my little 4 year old old brother, Oslo!

Steps

Step 1: cook the salmon and broccoli

I like to use cubes of salmon fillets. You can choose to leave the skin on or off the salmon, but I find the fish has better flavor when roasted with the skin on. Toss the salmon with ginger, chipotle powder, and chile flakes. I love to use Korean chile flakes.

You can find them online, at Whole Foods, and in most major grocery stores in the Asian aisle. I use the Mother in Law’s Brand.

Step 2: add the broccoli and/or asparagus

On the opposite side of the salmon, toss the broccoli and/or asparagus with oil or butter, salt, and pepper.

Now, roast everything at the same time until the salmon is cooked to your liking.

Step 3: the honey sauce

Mix the tamari (or soy sauce) with the honey. Then add fresh garlic, or use garlic powder, chili paste, green onions, and a drizzle of toasted sesame oil.

Step 4: the spicy creamy sauce

Just 3 ingredients: mayo, chili paste, and honey.

I usually add a pinch of salt too. Or you can add tamari.

Step 5: toss in sauce

Pour the sauce over the salmon, then return the pan to the oven and cook another few minutes until that sauce really sticks!

Step 6: serve with rice

I make a pot of coconut garlic rice.

It’s so delish!

The Chili Paste

I use gochujang, a Korean chili paste. This really provides that extra flavor. Again, the Mother in Law’s brand is my favorite. I get the original flavor from Whole Foods or order it on Amazon.

Instructions

  • 1. Preheat the oven to 450° F. Rub a sheet pan with oil.
    2. On the sheet pan, mix the salmon, 1/2 teaspoon ginger, the chipotle powder, and chile flakes. Add 2 tablespoons of olive oil, tossing to coat. Arrange the salmon to one side of the sheet pan. Add the broccoli/asparagus to the other side. Toss with olive oil, salt, and pepper. Bake for 10-15 minutes until the salmon is cooked to your liking.
    3. To make the sauce. In a bowl or glass jar, combine all ingredients.
    4. For the spicy creamy sauce, combine all ingredients.
    5. Remove the vegetables from the sheet pan. Then, pour the honey garlic sauce over the salmon and toss it up in the sauce. Bake for another 5 minutes until the sauce is baked onto the salmon.
