Every good party needs a great cocktail, and this Holiday Pear Sangria is just that. It’s my favorite festive drink to serve up this season. White wine mixed with pear brandy, fresh pears, cranberries, winter citrus, spices, and a splash of ginger beer. It’s sweet, refreshing, so easy to make, and perfect for all holiday parties.

To celebrate the season, I recently traveled to New York City to host a very fun and special holiday event and cookbook signing with Harry & David. I walked everyone through how I create the perfect holiday cheese board, signed books, and chatted the night away. It was so fun to get meet some of you in person, and to hear your stories of how you came to find me and Half Baked Harvest. It was truly such a special night. I’m SO grateful for all of you who continue to read and make HBH recipes in your kitchen.

As mentioned, I teamed up with Harry & David to create a festive holiday cheese board. To go along with it, I created this sweet pear sangria you see here. Both of which were served at the event. This sangria is one of my favorites, it’s great for easy holiday entertaining!

To make this sweet pear sangria, simply mix white wine with a little apple or pear brandy, then add in seasonal fruits like pears, cranberries, and winter citrus. I love topping my sangria off with ginger beer for a nice spicy kick. So delicious and refreshing.

You can make this up to couple of days ahead, perfect for the busy hostess.

  1. My family is Jewish but many of our neighbors are Christian. We started hosting a Christmas brunch each year with all traditiinally Jewish foods- my mother makes whitefish salad, and we make blintz soufflé, bagels and lox. It’s a great way to gather everyone together before they head off to their own holiday traditions and celebrations!

My favorite tradition is baking with my two boys and singing Christmas Carols. And Breakfast with Santa. And playing in the snow. And all the things that make the dark and cold season bright!

P.S. You are super fabulous and I’m so excited for all the amazing places this blogging world is taking you!

  3. This sangria sounds scrumptious, but the photos took my yearnings to try this over the top. The festive garnishes make the presentation top notch!

  4. Yum!! That looks delicious.
My favorite holiday tradition is a big Christmas Eve party that our neighbors throw — this year is the 25th anniversary of the event!

  5. Running the Jingle Bell Holiday Half Marathon (always in December), Christmas tree decorating, Hallmark Movies In repeat, Baking, Sending Christmas Cards and Doing 31 Random Acts of Kindness anonymously to spread Holiday cheer! That’s a lot of traditions I suppose but it’s the perfect combination to begin a fresh new year on the right foot!

There’s White Christmas & Elf to watch with your drink recipe when we return, but this year we are visiting as many Christmas Markts as possible in Austria, Germany & France. Enjoying Glühwein, Käsekräner & raclette looking forward to fondue, fire-roasted fish, bubbles, great wine and beer

  7. My favorite holiday tradition is everyone in the family opening Christmas pajamas on Christmas Eve!! Then everyone Christmas morning eats French toast in their christmas pajamas 🙂

  8. I love Christmas Eve with the family, it’s always been a bigger deal than Christmas Day in my family, it’s the best.

My favorite holiday tradition is driving over to our local Christmas lights neighborhood and walking around with hot chocolate (and snacks!) with the family as we admire the beautiful holiday decorations!

  10. I love that we get to celebrate Christmas with both of our families (plus we have cinnamon rolls and irish cream on Christmas morning!)

  11. I just made Lillet poached pears with Harry and David pears (they are SO good!) to with my Skillet Baked French Onion chicken. Rave reviews. Thanks for slicing up my kitchen Half Baked Harvest!

  12. Favorite holiday tradition- the whole family opens new pjs on Christmas Eve and we sit in front of the fire with wine for the grown ups and hot chocolate for the kiddos!
