Every good party needs a great cocktail, and this Holiday Pear Sangria is just that. It’s my favorite festive drink to serve up this season. White wine mixed with pear brandy, fresh pears, cranberries, winter citrus, spices, and a splash of ginger beer. It’s sweet, refreshing, so easy to make, and perfect for all holiday parties.

To celebrate the season, I recently traveled to New York City to host a very fun and special holiday event and cookbook signing with Harry & David. I walked everyone through how I create the perfect holiday cheese board, signed books, and chatted the night away. It was so fun to get meet some of you in person, and to hear your stories of how you came to find me and Half Baked Harvest. It was truly such a special night. I’m SO grateful for all of you who continue to read and make HBH recipes in your kitchen.

As mentioned, I teamed up with Harry & David to create a festive holiday cheese board. To go along with it, I created this sweet pear sangria you see here. Both of which were served at the event. This sangria is one of my favorites, it’s great for easy holiday entertaining!

To make this sweet pear sangria, simply mix white wine with a little apple or pear brandy, then add in seasonal fruits like pears, cranberries, and winter citrus. I love topping my sangria off with ginger beer for a nice spicy kick. So delicious and refreshing.

You can make this up to couple of days ahead, perfect for the busy hostess.

  1. My favorite tradition from childhood was getting hot cocoa and driving around looking at Christmas lights. I love that I can do it with my children now

  2. My favorite holiday tradition—every year my sister and I pick a new holiday cocktail to make for our family Christmas Day! This year looks your recipe for the Christmas Sangria was our winner! 🙂

  3. My favorite Christmas tradition is after all the cooking and baking is done, my mother and I sit down and watch the movie While You Were Sleeping (Totally deserves to be called a Christmas Movie). We eat leftovers and whatever treats we got in our stockings Christmas morning and spend the post-Christmas party evening on the couch being lazy! Might have to make some Sangria instead of our usual boozy coffee ??

I love my tradition of going and cutting down our Christmas tree! With living in a larger city this year, my boyfriend kept the tradition alive by purchasing a tree from a local market that employs the local homeless community around the holidays. I can’t wait to keep doing this for years to come!

I have lots of favorites, but I think the one that stands out the most would be the two culture melds of food, I’m Puerto Rican so we make coquito it’s a Puerto Rican eggnog, and then me kids make tamales, there half Mexican, it’s a full day event, and sometimes we even toss in a few batches of cookies while we’re waiting for the tamales… It’s the one thing that brings my adult kids running home lol… Tamale day every year in December… I wish you and your family a very merry Christmas and a happy new year

  6. My mom actually loves pears and pear drinks. For years I gifted her a pear liqueur for Christmas and we’d open it and make pear sidecars. This Sangria looks like a lovely (and less fussy!) alternative. I look forward to those quiet cocktails with my mom before all of our guests arrive.

  7. Favorite holiday tradition is Christmas day when we stay at home, open presents around the tree, eat lots of wonderful food (definitely some HBH recipes in the mix!), and just spend time together as a family.

  8. My parents buy me and my siblings (and now our spouses!) mini pull race cars that we race on Christmas Day. We are all so competitive that we end up doing a ton of races!

  9. My favorite holiday tradition is prepping breakfast strata on Christmas Eve. When we eagerly wake to open gifts, I pop the strata in the oven for a hassle free breakfast post-present opening! Nothing like a warm, savory breakfast to kick off the morning 🙂

  10. My favorite holiday tradition is making breakfast strata the night before, and then popping it in the oven the morning of while we open gifts!! Nothing like a warm, eggy meal after presents without the hassle 🙂
