This year, I have some yummy dishes coming your way, but wings are an absolute must. Usually, I serve up traditional buffalo wings, but after making these garlic parmesan wings, I’m now serving both.

These are so delicious and a great option for anyone who doesn’t love the spiciness of buffalo wings!

Here are the details

Step 1: the chicken

Start with the chicken. Cubed raw chicken, breasts, or thighs, or use a mix of the two as I do. Toss the cubed chicken with a mix of seasonings: smoked paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Add flour and parmesan, then toss again.

The flour allows the chicken to get crispy in the oven. I love that crispy texture. It’s a small amount, so just a very light coating, but it’s perfect. Not fully bready chicken wings, but breaded enough so that the sauce really sticks nicely to the chicken.

Bake the chicken up in a super hot oven. It takes maybe 20 minutes to cook.

Step 2: the sauce

For the sauce, you need butter, garlic, cream, parmesan, and cayenne. A very simple mix, but delicious.

Simmer this on the stove for a few minutes to bring everything together into a delicious cream sauce. Nothing fancy to it!

Step 3: coat the chicken in sauce

Pour the sauce over the baked, crispy chicken as soon as it comes out of the oven. The heat helps the sauce really adhere to the chicken.

The coating soaks up all the sauce. It’s going to leave you saying, YUM!

I always finish with extra parmesan cheese, parsley, and black pepper.

For serving, these are so yummy with home-baked french fries and extra parmesan sauce. Or serve over rice with a side of broccoli and make these wings into a dinner!

Perfect for everyone in the family!

Ingredients

Garlic Parmesan Sauce

Instructions

  • 1. Preheat the oven to 450° F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or rub with oil.
    2. On the sheet pan, toss together the chicken, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Add the flour and parmesan and toss again. Add 2 tablespoons of olive oil, tossing to coat. Arrange the chicken evenly on the baking sheet. Bake 15-20 minutes until the chicken is cooked through.
    3. Meanwhile, make the sauce. Heat the butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook until it begins to brown, about 3-5 minutes. Stir in the garlic and then slowly pour in the cream. Whisk in the parmesan and cayenne. Season with salt and pepper. Simmer the sauce for 3-5 minutes, whisking until smooth. Keep warm over low heat.
    4. Pour the parmesan sauce over the chicken and toss the chicken up in the sauce.
    5. Serve the chicken and parmesan sauce with fresh parsley. Ideally, add some home-cut fries on the side too. YUM!

So delicious! This will definitely become part of our regular recipe rotation, so much flavour and yet so simple.

I roasted delicata squash in the air fryer while this was in the oven and the garlic parmesan sauce was also amazing with it too.

Thank you Tieghan, another amazing recipe!

  2. I was wondering if you bake the chicken directly on the baking sheet, or do you use the wire rack that was listed in your kitchen supplies? The video and directions do not mention the wire rack, but I wonder if it would make it more crisp…

    1. Hey Dani,
You could totally use a wire rack, that will work nicely for you!

This is delicious, fast, and easy! We have this on the repeat. We always use thighs and they are so flavorful and crispy, yet not dry. And the sauce….I could literally drink it! I serve this with Basmati rice which goes so well with the sauce. I’m going to start serving this sauce over rice as a side dish to many meals, not just this one. “Garlic-Parmesan Rice!” I do recommend waiting to make the sauce until you are ready to serve as it doesn’t reheat well. If we have leftover chicken I always make a fresh batch of the sauce for leftover night. This dish turns out perfectly every time. Thank you, Tieghan!!! This is yet another gem!

    1. Hey Lisa! Wow thank you so much for all this input! This is so helpful! Thanks for giving the recipe a try, have an amazing Friday! xT

Excellent recipe. I did it in batches in the air fryer for 15 minutes, Ann’s they turned out perfect. I was conservative with the salt in my first batch because I went heavier with the parmesan, so it was a little bland. Added more salt and all subsequent batches were perfect. For how easy this was I’ll definitely be making it regularly.

    1. Thanks so much, Christian! Love to hear this recipe turned out well for you. I appreciate you making it! Have a great weekend! xx
